I have a collection of dog brushes, combs, rakes and de matting tools all in the $10-$30 range. None were really effective.
I thought I'd try something more expensive, and OMG, this tool is amazing. My dog, who normally hides if her sees the brush before I get to him, just sat there and let me brush him with this. 2 mins later no mats.

This tool was exactly what I was looking for to remove burrs and weeds from my giant Schnauzer's coat and also pull out his dense easily-matted undercoat.
I also have 3 Persian cats and it takes matts out without much pulling on their hair. (They aren't matted to the skin though; if your pet has that issue, only an electric clipper will cut through that) I wish I would have known about this grooming tool years ago. I also would recommend for thinning a horse's mane. It really takes a lot of hair out.

Absolutely amazing. I have Wire Hair Pointing Griffons and they are easy keeps and don't shed much. But they collect burrs like crazy especially when hunting. I tried the furminator and all the other brands and was not impressed. But the mars coat king is amazing and removing almost everything a dog can manage to accumulate in their fur. It even does a decent job at collecting ticks. I love my brush and have bought a second one just to keep in the truck with the other dog possibles. The only down side is in the winter it might be a little to aggressive at removing undercoat when they need it the most. But even that's not a big deal. DOESN'T PULL YOUR DOG'S HAIR EVEN WHEN IT'S WET!!!!

I have a Newfie and I had some concerns if this would be too much pulling on her and she would be trying to get away from me because of pulling her fur or yanking on her. There was just a little pulling at first but I soon learned to have more controlling strokes and she let me use this stripper on her.
I had used other brushes and I wish I had known about this before. I take her to the groomers once a month and now with this I can bath her at home and just uses this as pre-groomer every other month, so this has already paid for itself in just the first use.
If you are concerned about "Stipping" dont be my Newfie looks so beautiful after the first use.

Recommended by my puppy's breeder. I three English Cocker Spaniels who need daily brushing and extensive grooming. This stripper brush is marvelous at grabbing the thick undercoat and thinning it out. My liver colored ECS has very fine, whispy hair on the back and sides and he usually looks like a teddy bear. A few strokes with this stripper tool and he looks much more presentable.
