Impressed Me Enough to Merit My First Product Review

As one of the top reviewers said: the Mars 10-Blade Coat King is the greatest grooming tool I didn't know I needed. We adopted Annie a couple of years ago and have never been sure what breed she is, though the original vet proposed "wire-haired Hungarian Vizsla mix". An internet search revealed that these dogs should be groomed with "hand-stripping" to clean up their coats. I had always just brushed her with a Spornette boar bristle brush Spornette Classic Cushion Porcupine Oval Boar and Nylon Bristles Hair Brush(which did a wonderful job gently combing out mats on our Shih Tzu and helped smooth the coat on our Shepherd/Collie mix after using the Furminator) and I thought it was working fine on our wire-haired dog. She doesn't seem to shed and her coat is just naturally scraggly, even after brushing her. I didn't want to use the Furminator on her, since I had read that cutting the coat of wire-haired dogs damages it. I was curious what this would do. I purchased an actual stripping knife and this Coat King Pet Stripper in the same transaction. The Coat King Pet Stripper seemed less intimidating and since we're not going to show Annie, this should suit our purposes fine (though I plan to use the stripping knife in smaller areas around the face).
I brushed her first with the boar bristle brush to smooth her coat and it removed some hair, as much as usual, and what I had always assumed was appropriate for her coat. I then passed the Coat King over her back in the direction of her hair growth. I was amazed how much hair this took off even after the first pass. By the time I was done, I had a huge pile of hair. She also enjoyed it. She rolled over on her back and was just eating it up. I could feel it pulling through her hair, a little more where it was thick, but she didn't seem to mind. I also held her skin above where I was brushing to keep it taut, which helped. After a while, the Coat King was gliding through her coat on areas I had worked on. After that, it only hung up a little if I weren't going with direction of her coat. ( I had some difficulty knowing the direction of hair growth around her neck and chest.)
I included pictures below of her before and after, as well as the pictures of the hair I got off of her after using the boar bristle brush and then after using the Coat King. That picture pretty well says it all. I probably worked about a half an hour on her. I also included a picture to show some of the hair that I got off of the blade. There were some reviews that says it cuts the dog's hairs, but I think it just pulls it out like it's supposed to do for wire-haired dogs. The picture shows where the hair is bent from looping around the "blade" of the Coat King. I don't think this would be the case if the hair was actually being cut.
All in all, I was amazed by the effectiveness of the Coat King, though I'm sure no expert on dog grooming, but it did impress me enough to write my first review.
Amazing!!

I have a Newfie and I had some concerns if this would be too much pulling on her and she would be trying to get away from me because of pulling her fur or yanking on her. There was just a little pulling at first but I soon learned to have more controlling strokes and she let me use this stripper on her.
I had used other brushes and I wish I had known about this before. I take her to the groomers once a month and now with this I can bath her at home and just uses this as pre-groomer every other month, so this has already paid for itself in just the first use.
If you are concerned about "Stipping" dont be my Newfie looks so beautiful after the first use.
This tool is a MUST if you've a dual coated, wire haired dog!!

I have to admit, I was very skeptical about this product, even after reading the reviews. I have a wire haired Border Terrier. His coat only ever looked good when he was hand stripped. Not only did he hate it, but so did I!! He's never even liked being brushed. So after reading the reviews specific to wire haired, dual coated dogs, I decided to bite the bullet, and take a chance on it. Am I ever glad I did!! I just finished using it for the first time and was amazed at the hair that came out of him and how neat and tidy he looks! Not only does he look neat and trim - HE LIKED IT!!! He actually enjoyed it! My only regret is I didn't think to take a "before" and "after" picture. If I remember the next time I use it, I'll take photos and update my review.
Finally!

This is probably the best purchase I have ever made with regards to dog grooming products. I have a sheltie that absolutely hates being groomed. It has never been a positive experience for either of us. So there were long periods between attempts to groom. His coat would get just awful, he would run from me, bite at me ( probably because his hair was being torn out) and it was just a huge amount of unhealthy energy expended by both of us. I have had this tool for 2 days. I have started slow and in sections. He had mats behind his ears that were sensitive but we worked through one side fairly easily. I just did another section today, maybe 30 minutes and it was even better. No tantrums, no nipping at the tool or my hand. He almost looked like he might have been enjoying it. This tool will be a go to from now on. Awesome product!!! If you have a hard to groom, long haired, or overwhelming undercoat I would absolutely recommend this product.
AMAZED !!!

I avoided this purchase from 2 years to use grooming my English Springer Spaniel. I just couldn't see spending $40 for a Dog Comb. So, ... it seemed I was trimming my Springer Spaniel 2-3 times a year with Wahl Clippers ! Even then, I had to buy a fresh set of clippers after 2 years!

So I broke down and made the purchase. Mars comb arrives and I was super amazed with how great of job of trimming my Springer. I filled a plastic grocery store bag !! I knew she needed grooming, but this comb took care of that. I have since used it on her about every other week. I thought she might miss her undercoat outside in the cold. I just had to call her inside as she was lying in the snow, chewing a ham bone. I'm so happy, as I would rather comb my dog that have to drag out the Wahl Clippers. Don't even think about the cost, using this comb will save you 'time' and money!
