This gadget is amazing

I just received this today. This gadget is amazing. I have been using a different brand now for a few years and had no idea that it wasn't getting the job done. We were taking our Irish Terrier out for a walk when someone remarked on how much hair he had and whether or not he had to be groomed. I told them that we were doing the grooming ourselves. When I got home I Googled "how to groom a Glen of Imaal". This Coat King was mentioned and I thought I'd give it a try. It works really really well. So glad I ordered it even though it was expensive compared to the other one I had. But, it does the job and now my pooch should be able to tolerate the hot weather a bit better.
Works wonders for my medium goldendoodle

I brush my 40# goldendoodle weekly and use this as part of the process. We have him professionally groomed about every 6-8 weeks and the groomer has seen a vast improvement in his hair between appointments since I started using it. I can see a difference--and feel a difference--as well. This gently removes the fuzzy white-ish hair that used to get tangled down in his fur. I don't go overboard with it, but usually have a little pile of dead hair when we're done. He doesn't mind it at all and it doesn't cut his hair like the dematter does. I initially got this when we were going through the crazy coat change, but it's still a go-to each week.
Will cut coat, but excellent tool for pets and retired show dogs

I only recommend this product for pets and dogs retired from showing--not active show dogs.
It will cut the coat.
That being said, it is an excellent tool for maintaining coat with minimal work. In 5-10 minutes, I can do what what would take over an hour of solid work using a regular stripper.
Nothing can replace the precision work of a regular stripping knife, but if that is too time consuming, or not worth the effort (in the case of pets and dogs retired from the show ring), this tool makes it easy to reasonably maintain a stripped coat. Without this, I would at some point just have to clipper the coat due to time constraints.
I find I still need to occasionally powder and card the coat using a proper stripping knife, but I get the bulk out with the coat king first.

Great for thick coats and wiry coats!

I bought this for my terrier but ended up being amazed by how well it worked on my German "shedder". She has separation anxiety so taking her to the groomers is a nightmare. After one relatively short session brushing the two of them I got amazing results- you can tell which pile
of fur is from the 20 pound terrier and which is from the 60 pound German shepherd, it worked great on both

Excellent product. This is the result of about 30% from our Great Pyrenees. She won't sit still for brushing if she doesn't like it. She sat and enjoyed the brushing. Could finished her in one sitting but had other things I had to get to.
