Very useful

This really works great. I had a plumber install a propane tankless water heater and this thing did not like his gas installation skills.
Then I called the propane company who came out and fixed the propane to code. The tool went silent - no propane floating around. It pays ($300) to have the job done right.

Worked great to detect a small natural gas leak!

We thought we could occasionally smell gas near our gas range, but it was so faint and fleeting that we couldn't tell for sure. We used the Inficon Gas Mate as soon as it arrived and sure enough it started going off like crazy near the range. I checked all of our other gas appliances as well and none of the other appliances set off the alarm. It only alarmed near the range. We called the gas company and they came out and confirmed that we do have a small gas leak at the stove top. The Inficon Gas Mate did a great job picking up the leak even though it was just a small one (registering between 80-600 ppm on the Gas technicians meter).
This was great found my gas leak in my RV

This was great found my gas leak in my RV. I replaced the regulator and did another check found I did not have a good seal on a threaded connection that was taken care of. I really liked the idea that you could change the sensitivity. there was so much gas coming out at first I had to reduce the sensitivity to pinpoint where in the closed in space the leak was. After I fixed it I use the most sensitive setting and found a bad connection that I may not have found. Where it was and because it was so slight that it most likely would not have cause any safety issue.
I would recommend that you take the batteries out of this after use. You will not need it often if you are a in the business of checking gas leaks. I would also let people know that you own one of these in that case you may get more use out of it. Any way I got my use out of it. hourly rate at RV repair shops in San Diego is between $100 and $150 per hour. finding and replacing the item took a little over 1 hour.
