Love this jig

Easy setup, nice joints. Very pleased with purchase. Instructions for dovetail tenon could be improved. Other than that, awesome tool.
I used this jig to make my first through dovetail ...

I used this jig to make my first through dovetail box. It takes some getting used to to set up, but when you get the hang of it, it makes very clean dovetails.
Make sure that the template brackets are straight!

After repeatedly getting poor results (see photo -- good fit on one side of the joint; a gap on the other side), I figured out the problem. My jig had a bent bracket when it arrived (see photos). As a result, when the template was attached to the jig, a strain on the template warped it upwards away from the tail piece (the piece that lies horizontally). This resulted in two problems: 1) the tails on one side were cut too shallowly; and 2) the tail piece was not held tightly enough and moved during routing. This suggests problems with quality control.

I took the bracket off (fortunately it is attached with screws), straigthened it in a vise, then replaced it. The good results are shown in the final photo.

Two of several key steps to getting consistent results: 1) Even before moving the lever, the top clamp should be screwed down until it is in contact with the horizontal tail board. Of course, as another reviewer noted, there is then a risk that you will break the top clamp if you move the lever too far. But I found that unless the top clamp is VERY firmly in place then the high speed vibrations of the router can displace the horizontal board, resulting in poor results; 2) Practice repeatedly with scraps before you work on your precious wood. There are many other settings (forward-backward position of the template; depth of the router bit; centering of the boards between the fingers; etc ...) that should be adjusted just right. But, as many other reviewers have attested, this jig CAN produce the tight and attractive half dovetail joints you want.
Easy setup, great jig!

This is absolutely the easiest jig that I have ever used! I have a Leigh jig and trying to get it setup for half blind dovetails is ridiculous, so I bought this for half blind dovetails and it excels at easy setup. I made a drawer with this after 30 minute setup. I have been watching a video on setup before purchasing it so I was kinda familiar with it sort of. If you want to do halfblind dovetails order this jig!
This jig worked great for me

This jig worked great for me. I think the YouTube video is much better help than the instructions but works better than the cheap ones. Don't make the same mistake I did, buy this one first or you will own both and the cheap one will collect dust.
