On this product it was exactly as described and worked just as it's supposed to I mean it's got to screen on it so it catches the extra lint that goes through the dryer keeps here you made a fire to the point that my windows have dew on the inside.
but it definitely blows that heat from your dryer right back into your house and it's got a flap in it that you turn one way and it'll blow it out the wall or turn it the other way and it'll release it into the house and I'll tell you what for those few cold days we had my furnace kicked on once the whole time that I was using the washer and dryer which was for about six or seven straight hours everybody decided to do their laundry on the same day. And it got to the point that it was actually hot and the house I thought about opening the windows but the better half said you do and she's going to nail my butt to it cuz she was comfortable. Little married humor there for you.
The only part of the product I didn't like was the zip ties because with the two being sleek the zip ties couldn't be pulled tight enough and it just came off when you started the dryer so I just went down and bought me a couple band clamps and stuck on them and everything's okay. And I get heat indoors where it needs to be. I think I'm going to buy an extra one of these here just in case this would ever breaks on me no I've got another one on hand.

Great product, but zip ties to attach it to the dryer vent were absolutely worthless! We purchased two large circular clamps to secure it..above & below! Now it is great!!

I was redoing our dryer line anyway so i figured for $11 it was worth a shot to capture the heat from the dryer in the winter. This seems pretty well made, the flap and the lint trap both seem like they'll hold up for at least a few years. The only trouble I had with it was during the install. It seems to be made more for the lighter grade of duct work where you can use the included wire ties to snug it up. I used the semi ridged so i ended up just having to use a lot of tape to get it to stay in place, the smooth plastic was kind of difficult to get the foil tape to stick to permanently but i eventually got it. I probably should've tried roughing it up first with some sand paper. So far it's held up for a couple of weeks, if it doesn't stay together i'll try a few sheet metal screws.

I actually owned this product which I purchased locally many years ago. Unfortunately when my old dryer gave out, the guy who installed it while I was in work threw away my Deflecto Extra Heat Dryer Saver with the old pipes! Errrrrr!!!! I went a few years with a cold basement until I found this product. Living in a 100 year old house, my cellar is always chilly, so why waste the heat of my clothes dryer by sending it outside in a pipe???? The Deflecto does a great job of sending the heat into my cellar while screening any lint from getting into the room. And the small lint door is easy to remove to clean. The only reason I didnt give it 5 stars was because I had to pay a guy to install it for me.

This vent makes it possible for us to let the heat and moisture out into our cool, dry basement. It's great to recycle the heat. It can be opened up in the summer to let the heat and moisture out of the house. It was easy to install.
