A little easy tweaking & you’ll have a wonderful (metallic) sound
HeyK✓ Verified Purchase•March 2, 2018
Piano arrived in beautiful condition. I expected to hear the metallic sound just like the Schoenhut piano I had as a child, which it did. However, the sound had a much worse quality. Many of the keys were sticking despite attempts to resolve according to the manual. And the chimes seemed to be dampened and wouldn't play the assigned note. Here's my remedy: I unscrewed the top cover (easy to do with a philips). I slid out the front panel with the Schoenhut label (also very easy). Next I unscrewed the board which holds the chimes. The problem was that the chimes were pressed against the backboard. I gently bent each individual chime away from the backboard it's attached to, so that the chime no longer touches the wood. Then, I put the chimeboard back into place and screwed it back in. For sticking keys, it's easy to swap individual keys with the same key elsewhere on the keyboard, as they easily pull out and you can tuck them back into a new location. After my tweaking, the sound was awesome! And on pitch! Again, this is very easy to do and worth the extra effort to get an even better sound. Piano is also fairly simple to assemble"”I was able to assemble without really paying much attention to the directions, as it's so intuitive and logical. My 4-month old daughter loves to play this piano, and I'm sure she'll continue to enjoy until she can play like her mommy on the big piano.
Wellll we want to love it but...

Speedy prime delivery, beautiful build, but the middle keys are hard to press. My husband and I figured out the problem. The top wooden cover puts too much pressure onto the piece of wood that has the logo on it, in turn putting pressure on the back of the keys, basically holding that part of the keys down & really hard to press, especially for my toddler! ... hope my explanation makes sense :/... We really want to love this beautiful piece but right now it's more of a display :/. Trying to decide whether we can fix the problem ourselves (I really don't want to go thru exchanging it and be disappointed again) or just return it altogether and move on..
i just keep on buying them!

this is my 2nd time purchasing a schoenhut 30-key fancy baby grand piano. I initially purchased it as a birthday gift for a friend's daughter who absolutely loved it. I now have my own daughter and didn't even have to think twice about getting her one of these! She loves it as well!
Both girls were gifted the piano at 2 years of age. Great way to introduce the instrument to them. Of course, the keys aren't perfect in sound, but that is to be expected - it's a toy. However, it does come with a color coded guide for key notes and a small music book so that the children can start attempting to play music based on color. *adorable*
it's a beautiful toy and wonderful gift! I would absolutely recommend that you strongly consider purchasing this item. Music is a wonderful thing to introduce children to. Vital even.

My 18 month old loved this. Now at 29 months he still loves it. The color coded music book it comes with is especially helpful. The paper to put on the key board is not made to handle a rough toddler so I taped construction paper to keys following the color chart. PERFECT!
Very satisfied!

Very satisfied with my purchase! I got this piano for my 15 month old girl and she loves it! It was relatively easy to put together!
I read a couple reviews that mentioned a toxic smell. I noticed the smell when I first opened the box, but then I realized that the smell was coming from the instruction packet. It must be related to either the glossy paper or the printer ink that was used in creating the instruction manual. The piano itself smelled fine to me and none of my family members noticed anything! The pink is slightly darker/brighter than that pictured, which was a pleasant surprise for us because I like it better than the pale/pastel color in the photos.
