This is a nice yard decoration. It doesn't really tell time because there is a double shadow except at noon. Also, I never realized that there is a paradox regarding the orientation of a sundial. The noontime shadow needs to point north so the dial has the word sunrise and the morning numbers on the west of the dial when actually the sun rises in the east. The same goes for the word sunset and afternoon numbers which are on the east side of the dial when actually the run sets in the west. This makes it a great conversation piece for when guest visit.

Of all the Rome sun dials, my favorite is this Sunrise/Sunset Sundial. I looked these over in a store that carries them.
However, the store did not have a sturdy pedestal base, and a base that I bought for this sun dial here at amazon is sturdy and fits the look.
