It seemed ok when it was new, but after minimal use I started having issues with the motor.

I purchased this to put the edge grinds on knives that I make. I haven't been using my sander very long and the motor barely moves now when I turn it on. It eventually start to operate normally after several minutes. But now the motor starts to smoke. The tracking adjustment for the belt hasn't worked correctly on my machine. When the machine was new, I was happy with the power of the motor. It seemed to maintain belt speed during operation while grinding knife blades and also shaping handles.

Not a knock against the machine on this point because it wasn't designed specifically for blade smith work, but the position of the motor becomes an issue when putting an edge grind on the left side of the blade. Grinding the right side works fine.
Five Stars

Don't know how I got by without this thing. Helps with several of my projects!
I consider them no better than Harbor Freight with a mark up

***BE WARNED** I have had a long time of experience with GRIZZLY tools. I consider them no better than Harbor Freight with a mark up. You pay your money and take your chances. You get a great deal about 50% get a POS the together 50%. I have a 14 inch bandsaw I love and an open end drum sander that is better used as a boat anchor.

***ALSO*** I bought this to do a very specific sanding job for a very specific part for a very custom gig. I never would have bought it for a general shop tool.... Not on a bet!

I had read that more than one person said this is the EXACT machine offered on Harbor Freight under a different name for $30 less. Now I believe them.

Got it today and last night read I would have to do some modifications to get it to be a working machine. That is sooooo true...

1) It's out of balance running... Shakes like a Dog Passing a Pecan Nut!
2) The wheels of the belt sander are not TRUE! I had to machine them to be true
3) The PLASTIC main drive wheel for the belt had to be taken out and the FLASH remove as it made one hell of a racket with the flash on it.
4) The Disc wheel was WAY out of true. Nearly a 64th . It is aluminum so mounted the table on it and used a Very sharp chisel to force it into the face of the disc and machine it to be close to true... DO NOT DO THIS! THIS IS INSANELY UNSAFE! It worked for me but was and is very dangerous. Also had to sand it while running to finish making it true.
5) You have to disassemble part of the machine to install the table for the disc sander! You also have to do this every time to change the sand paper on the disc.

In the machine is NOT worth the $99 but steal at $40.

Buy the cheaper brother
