Great Tuner !

Excellent in every way. Spot on tuner for my guitars.
A very good and accurate tuner.

As a tuner, it's spot on. I was turned onto these tuners years ago, and I haven't regretted it. It's easy and intuitive to read, and I especially like the large screen. Plus, it's easy on the batteries...it just doesn't use that much power, so you don't have to swap out batteries for a LONG time.

My only real issue with this tuner is the clip. It doesn't seem to want to open as far as other similar tuners do, so on some instruments (like my classical guitar) I have to reposition it when I'm tuning a particular string (like my low E). BUT, it's accurate and as I said very intuitive to use, so I'm OK with overlooking this one flaw.

I like that the screen lights up as well, and that it's backlit. It's easier for me to read than other displays where the characters themselves are lit.

It's a good product and I like it a lot.
Compact and Reliable

I have tried many different on-board tuners -- four different brands, and a totale of seven different models. My first MT900 was given to me by a friend who thought it was broken (he had electrical tape around the edges because he said the battery cover would not stay closed). After a week, I took off the tape and found that you just have to get the cover in the right position to close it tight. I've had no problems since, and I've used it every day for the last three years. This is compact, and very reliable. I have purchased two more MT900s recently. The backlighting is plenty bright enough, inside and outdoors, and the display is clear. As with all on-board tuners I have tried, they get a little flooky when the battery runs down -- which is how I tell when I need to change the battery. The MT900 seems to me to last longer than others, or to be able to give a good reading even when the juice is low. The battery is included.
Low E (and A) are a pain
BoatDecember 31, 2010
I've had the Intelli IMT-900 for several months. Being my first chromatic tuner it was cool at first and I put up with the fact that low E is so difficult to read. But this is a tool and over time it got to be too much of a pain in the rear. Sometimes it just won't read it (low E), sometimes it will pick it up if you go to the 12th fret... or if you reposition the unit 3 or 4 times... or it will read it for a second (literally) and then drop off.... sometimes it will read it but tell you it's an 'A'.... sometimes it just refuses. And 'A' is difficult at times. This occurs on all 3 of my acoustic guitars. If I had not kept it too long I would return it. I debated between 2 and 3 stars - the unit is bright, easy to use (except as noted above), has good mechanical adjustments, seems to be well made, and will transpose (flat/sharp) - but it has shortcomings in performing it's primary function.
Maybe ok on some guitars but not my Seagull

I saw a top notch bluegrass band and every one of them seemed to have this exact tuner on their instruments so when i saw it here i figured it wa the one to go with. I could not have been more wrong. On my acoustic steel and nylon string guitars, it NEVER works on the low E or A strings. Sometimes if i reclip it near the string it will pick it up sporadicly, but ends up being a touch sharp. Now i bought the planet waves one for twice the price and it works Ike a dream! So im staring at this thing and think "i know! If it dosent like low strigs, it will be find on the ukulele.". Unfortounately the stupid little buttons on the face of this thing rattle louder than the strings themselves sometimes. So with quiet ukulele songs i cant even leave it on the headstock to perform. It tunes the instrument alright, but then needs to be tossed in a case or put in my pocket before any songs so what's the point!? Do your self a favor, spend some more money but get the planet waves tuner, unless your a total beginner and just need something cheap that will work in a quiet home environment, and your in no rush.
