I've used this for over a year and haven't had any problems. It works great and the heat is strong. I originally bought this to use temporarily while I shopped for a new stove but ended up using this for over a year now. I use it mainly to boil eggs and fry simple things. I use it about once or twice a week. It is good for small apartments, dorm rooms, or just an extra portable burner to have around. What I like about it is it's portability and the weight is substantial so it won't tip over. Make sure you wipe up any spills after using because it can stain or be hard to clean the rings on the plate if you wait and let it settle. Also, note it fits small pots, this probably won't be sufficient for a giant pot.

I bought this about a year ago to clean deer skulls. I wanted a compact way to heat pots of water to boiling (or near boiling) without using a propane tank and having an open flame in the shop. Honestly, this worked really well for my purposes. My only complaint is that after having it for about a month, the "off" setting stopped working... so the only way to turn it off was by unplugging it. Otherwise it would stay on the "warm" setting indefinitely. Not really a big deal for my purposes though. Anyway, mine just died after a year of use, but it was inexpensive and I got a lot of use out of it (cranking it up hot and letting it run for hours at a time, from time to time) so I'm pretty pleased with it overall.

It's great. We use it to heat up our stovetop espresso maker at work. We can whip it out when we need to heat stuff up, and it fits nicely in our breakroom. It heats up and cools down quickly. Seems like it's solidly built, too.
