I don't think this differs from the material used for damage to cars. Years ago I had a door with a bit of rot that I removed and was planning on making a wood plug to complete the repair, when I decided to try using some leftover Bondo. I know it held up five years and have since moved. At the new house it had cedar posts, which had small cracks, so that time I used the Bondo For Wood. Easy to work, and is not red (the only difference I can find). It has held perfectly for two years, and have the same issue on a workshop I am building, although this has treated posts. It fills the cracks (be sure to wear dust projection when sanding) easily. Mix small quantities as it hardens in a few minutes. I am waiting a few more months to allow the treated wood to dry and will update this as to its stain ability. This material is less expensive then wood epoxy and is more easily worked while providing a long lasting repair,

Best solution to repair rotted wood window sills. Much better than other plastic would products i have tried. fast strong and waterproof.
But Amazon delivered the product several days later than indicated when i placed order causing delay in my project... not the fault of 3M.
Expensive.

any gap, crack, hole or funny looking piece of wood is no longer a threat to me. I have Bondo. I've been using it around the house as prep for painting and boards that I had a handyman tell me I should replace I now beg to differ. All the boards I've patched up are solid as a rock with this stuff and I have saved money and hassle of dealing with him (handyman). Priceless.
Worked great - odd color

Product works great but sets up pretty fast. Suggest mixing a small sample to see how long you have to work with it. Also, mine dried green. Not a problem for me because stain completely covered it.
