If you aren't a Benny Hill fan, than unsure what you are doing looking at this. Benny Hill is Benny Hill. Insane, stupid and just plain wonky. Something I and my husband happen to love! We even recorded the song and use it as a ringtone for our cell phones! If you like Benny Hill you will LOVE these sets! The first season was probably the slowest and least funniest, but it's interesting to see him progress as time moves onward. By second set he's on a roll and making us laugh and laugh!

This third DVD collection of the original British versions of the Benny Hill shows may be the best. These shows, from the 1975-77 time period, focus a bit more on "skits" and less on songs, and include some hilarious material. The Ladybirds are gone (which is OK) -- but there's lots of Jackie Wright, who is funnier than ever, especially playing off of Benny as his sidekick in the various skits. Personal favorites in this collection are the Lower Tidmarsh Fire Bridgade (which includes the great "Robin Hood" sketch), Murder on the Oregon Express (with Benny playing Kojak, McCloud, Ironsides, etc. in the same sketch), and Sale of the Half Century. Also classic is the Diana Darvey song with Benny and Jackie as her bumbling backup musicians ("a couple of twits"). There's lots more great stuff as well.

As with all of the British episodes of the shows, which are about an hour each, I find there is some material that I just skip over. So I can't give a five-star rating. But with a DVD, where you can just push the "next" button to get to the bits you want, it's no big deal. And the laughs are well worth it.

This is old Benny Hill at his best! It would be completely inappropriate by today's standards but if you can try to consider that this was how things were at that time, it is sincerely some of the funniest skits ever!

What's nice about this is that you see the shows how they were meant to be seen.
What I mean is...they were shown differently in the U.K. than in the U.S.
In the U.S., only select bits were put together for the U.S. airing.
Either because of time or because some people in the U.S. might not "get" the British sense of humor.
If you're a Benny Hill fan, you'll be familiar with much on this disc.
But you'll also find some skits that are new to you.
I recommend it.
