Keeps the dust down, but pretty hard to use
SmithlordJanuary 28, 2018
It does a really good job at keeping the dust level down. I recommend getting the bag type filter for your Shop Vac so you don't stir up a bunch of dust cleaning the vac out. I used a small 2.5 gallon Shop Vac and it seemed to have the appropriate amount of suction to get the dust and not suck the tool to the wall so hard that you can't move it. There is suction adjustment on the tool and I had it closed as much as possible for max suction most of the time. It leaves a lot of very noticeable sanding scratches if you aren't careful. You must hold it perfectly flat to the wall at all times or it is going to leave big scratches. I found that not sanding perfectly up/down or side to side is the best way to reduce scratches. Imagine a compass on a map with up/down being North/South. I mostly sanded at NW/SE or NE/SW and had pretty good results. The scratches left behind mostly blended out when I passed over the wall to dust it with a wrung out sponge.

Be aware that using this thing is completely exhausting! Be sure to eat your Wheaties the day that you plan to use it. I had a very large room to do and thought I might actually die before I was done. This is a game for the physically fit, which I apparently am not.
What dust?!

This thing is killer. With the appropriate sanding screens and adequate suction, there is almost zero mess. I have a 6hp peak shop vac and there is so much suction that I can lay this agains the wall and it will stick easily. It does take some muscle to be able to sand walls, but I think that's an obvious and acceptable tradeoff for a clean room, which is exactly what this thing is intended to do. I think it's well worth the modest price and a must for anyone sanding drywall.
This is the way to do drywall sanding!

Probably the best $20 product I ever bought. Hooked this up to the whole house Vacuum, and there wasn't any drywall dust. It is a bit more cumbersome than just a sanding pad, but there is no clean-up after sanding. Highly recommended!
Dust-free sanding even with adaptered sanding sheets

The tool is well balanced and connects to my Kirby without an adapter. The included reversible drywall sandscreen does only a fair job.
But the sandscreen makes an excellent pad for Drywall Sanding Sheets like those from 3M. The key to their use is to cut two air holes at the obvious locations in the Handle. Then align the sheet to the holes and clip as with the screen.
This works great since the vacuum air flow is from all sides and as well as in the sheet.
I used this to sand new ceiling well dried plaster patch in short order. It took at least one-fourth the time as with just the screen alone.
I found no plaster dust on any surface. This has happened with no other tool, and I have tried many types.
Would be great except hose length.

Great product, albeit too short of hose. You should be able to sand the whole standard height wall without having to lift your main shopvac hose off the ground. A minor complaint, perhaps, but the increase in fatigue due to this is dramatic. Could I buy an extension, sure, but add 2 ft to the hose right out of the box, problem solved!

It will not sand all your sanding tasks (nor will any screen), but what it does, it does very well.

It gets almost all the dust.

It wears your screens a little more than normal blocks.

If you are looking to control the dust, this product is amazing, if you don't care about the dust, you will not want to use it due to the fatigue issues.
