Nice rear, intermittent front
Honey BadgerMay 10, 2017
I love the rear light, and bought several more, that I used exclusively during Paris-Brest-Paris, RAAM, and other 780 to 3000 mile races. They last long with Li AAA.
I do not love the front light. On all three of them, the contact came loose after 1-2 months of riding, and the light would go off until the cover was unscrewed and re-screwed ... then same thing over again a few miles later. Not very convenient!
So consider the 3 star rating a mix of a 5-star (rear) and 1-star (front).
Good set to be seen by motorists.

This is a great, inexpensive set, that I still use five years later. I've put it through four years of San Francisco weather. Make sure both lights are blinking since this set isn't powerful enough to catch somebody's attention without the blinking. Best part is both units run on normal AA and AAA batteries. I use the NiMH rechargeable, and they work perfectly.
... couple other brands and this headlight and taillight are easily the best ones I've had

I've tried a couple other brands and this headlight and taillight are easily the best ones I've had. The headlamp is easy to slide on and off making it great as a flashlight in a pinch. Both of them have three positions: steady, flashing and off, requiring few button presses to get to the mode you want, but giving you flexibility for riding conditions. I always have the tail light in flashing because that makes it easier to see for cars. The headlamp I use on steady at night, and flashing during the day during poor visibility (so cars can see me). Please do not use the flashing mode at night on the headlamp. The flashing is terrible for the nightvision of vehicles and pedestrians making it actually more dangerous. Yes, they'll know you're there, but they won't be able to see you when you're constantly flashing making their eyes adjust repeatedly from dark to bright.
Neither front nor rear light functional after 2 weeks.

First, the rear tail light is awful. There are so many different pattern, it takes forever to cycle through them all to turn the darn thing off EVERY time. But worse than that, the screw holding the light on was so low quality that the light wouldn't stay in one place, and kept falling and turning itself off. Not safe.

At first I really liked the front headlight -- especially the blinky setting. The front light felt high quality and I would have given this 5 stars just for the front light. Until the batteries died, and when I tried to change them some piece of the connection broke so that now the light only works intermittently.

So, after 2 weeks of use, neither the front nor rear light functional.
Decent value, but mount broke

I purchased two sets of these lights: one for my bike and one for my wife's. Both lights are adequately bright to be seen by others. The headlight is bright enough to enhance visibility for late evening or dark rides, but if I was completely relying on my headlight in those conditions, I would want something brighter.

Installation is simple and the included mounts work well. I mounted my taillight to a bag under my seat and it has not fallen off yet.

My wife fell on her bike, which ended up cracking the mounting rails of the headlight, essentially making it useless now. I realize these cant be made to endure all accidents, but it seemed like this point was particularly weak.

I don't keep my bikes out in terrenchal downpours, but the lights have lasted through the occasional shower with no loss of function.
