Not a direct replacement for '98 Dodge
Greg M✓ Verified Purchase•July 11, 2017
NOT a direct replacement for '98 Dodge trailer towing hook up.
This unit needs some type of adapter to connect to the rectangular Dodge plug in.
The connector that you plug your trailer in to looks the same but the harness connector is not the same

Perfect replacement for a broken socket.

Perfect replacement for a broken socket. The bed socket (aftermarket install) did not survive my forgetfulness during an unhitching operation. Don't recall the off-brand, but images provided enough detail to verify this as a direct plug in replacement without replacing the entire harness/plug kit. Sorry I can't recall the other brand that was installed.
Worked great with my car.

It took me less than 5 minutes to install it on my 2017 Audi Q7.
The Dealer wanted $125 for the same part.

Excellent socket--but no mounting screws included!

Every bit as good as the "official" OEM socket, but without the nonsense price.
However, it didn't come with mounting screws! Now I have to go make a trip to the hardware store. Including 4 screws would be a super-simple way (and at negligible cost) to greatly increase the total value to the customer. For me it would have meant the difference between a frustrating headache and five stars.

The part you need for a VW or Audi with a towing package!

Direct plug in for 2013 Audi Q7 with towing package (and many VW's too) If you have a blanking plate with 4 screws by your receiver this is what you need to plug in a trailer's wiring. Remove the screws and screw this in the plate's place. Turns it into a 7 round - you may need a 7 round to 4 or 5 flat depending on your trailer. Those are available at ANY auto parts store or big box. This part is not.
