the finish on this bumper is chrome tape, it was already peeling off when delivered... requested a new one and it had tape peeling off also! returned it also,having issues with this return

I purchased this bumper due to the fact that it looks like the original factory bumper on my vintage 1989 Dodge D150 pickup truck. When it says universal, they mean it. This bumper does not reach to the outer reaches of the original bumper. It actually looks a little like it is the wrong bumper for the truck. The diamond top is very attractive, but it is a plate that is spot welded on the top, then there is silicone caulking around the plate on the bumper to make a seal. My original Dodge bumper was solid all over even with diamond plate on top. I understand that no aftermarket is factory. Also this bumper was well below in price what the factory bumpers used to be. It is a very nice looking bumper for the money. It comes with a 3yr/36000 mile warranty. That is why I gave this bumper 4 stars. I will probably only put 1500 miles in three years on the truck so I am counting on the 3 year warranty.

I have had this new bumper on my truck for several weeks and it seems to be performing just fine. I live on gravel roads and have had to wash my truck twice since installing the new bumper. So far no rust or any signs of deterioration problems. Not sure what the need for the clear silicone caulking is, only to keep moisture out between where the two pieces (top and side) of the bumper comes together. I did not find any other company out there still making this style of bumper for my older chevy pickup.

Nice looking bumper but as other reviewers stated there is silicon seal around where the top diamond plate is welded to the bumper. This should be a weld all around as this is the higher priced bumper option for my truck. The bumper looks great on my 1991 Dodge D-150, but I am concerned about rust/longevity because of the silicon seal around the diamond plate.
MOUNTING NOTE: The mounting brackets required for this bumper are thick heavy duty plate steel but BEWARE as the "Direct Fit Mounting Bracket Kit" Fey 92230 specified for this FEY 21000 bumper is not a direct fit the 1991 Dodge D-150. The holes at the rear of the bracket that mounts to the truck frame had to be modified/elongated in order to mount the bumper correctly. This is not an easy task for a without a plasma cutting torch or drill press as they are thick heavy plate steel. The included instructions have a section specifically for the 1991-1993 Dodge D-150 Pickup but they do not mention that modification may be required to the bracket for a correct fit.
