ordered several to have a supply, good thing I did. First one I installed lasted 90 days and both tubes were burnt right off. Never in 40 years have I seen this happen.I can only guess where these are manufactured. I have 62 apartments with electric water heaters, I will probably throw away remainder elements and save myself money doing so. This one that lasted 90 days was a clean no lime water heater.
A very very disappointed customer. Just an update, I had three more of these fail within 90 days of install. worst product ever. I won't ask for free replacement because i would never install one of these again
Astounding element life heating very hard water.

This element is a Hard Water Hero. Here is the story. Soft water is 17 ppm. Very hard water is 180 ppm. My well produces water hardness of 600 parts per million. On a bad day when you hold a clear glass of it in the sunlight you can see anvils and cannonballs swirling around. We run a softener on the dishwasher and kitchen sink. Everything else is straight from the well. For a while I was replacing traditional elements every year or so. Installed one of these and it lasted SIX YEARS! 50 gallon tank. 4 folks in the home. If I'd done the slightest maintenance it might still be working. This thing is not only tough, it's cheaper in the long run.

Here's some advice. Bear in mind I am not a professional plumber or building inspector. Consult with both of them and the dogcatcher too before following my advice or better yet just read this for educational and entertainment purposes. This part of the country has a lot of limestone and calcium in well water. Deposits on plumbing and residue in water heater confirm. I've only tested for hardness, not composition. Different water compositions will give different results. There was a lot of sediment in the heater above the level of the element which is probably what killed it after 6 years of dutiful service. .My maintenance plan going forward is to install a big ball valve in place of the drain valve so that I can periodically drain out the sediment through a temporary hose. A ball valve allows a straight shot to shove a stick in to dislodge sediment. Best to switch off power to the heater and send somebody in for a long shower to cool the water. If they come out of the shower blue and shivering it's cool enough to work on. Use the incoming valve to throttle down the flow and then fully open the ball valve to clear out sediment. The stick might come in handy here. It's going to be messy because it happens near ground level. With luck the temporary tube will flow sediment straight into the bucket. I am contemplating this on an annual basis because when the element finally gave out the heat warped it and made removal quite difficult. I'd like to avoid that in the future and the maintenance should extend product life.
rusted thru in 3 weeks

I bought 2 of these elements for my hot water heater as spares.About 2 months later the old elements went up and I installed these . 3 weeks later I was having issues again. Looked at both elements and noticed one was leaking thru the center of the element so I contacted the company by email 3 times about the 1 year replacement warranty. I never received any correspondence back even though it said the emails had been delivered.

Lasted less than two days before burning out. Mine was installed in a water heater, not used for beer brewing or another less common application like these elements seem to be popular for. I replaced this Camco element with Utilitech 9008068046 from Lowes and the Utilitech is doing OK so far. As others have stated here, there may be some quality control issues with these Camco elements. I sent an e-mail directly to Camco customer support and never received a response, so I'm not even going to bother with trying to get a warranty refund. It isn't worth my time.

Product came as described, there seemed to be some residue on the heating element itself, I wasn't sure what that was from, but it wiped off and no issues so far.

Keep in mind when installing that the black plastic component that has the screw terminals cannot be used to tighten the element, as it will deform if you try to use a wrench on it.

Had no issues with the element whatsoever
