Everything you need for a proper backup generator installation. Clear Instructions.

Everything you need (almost), with clear instructions. Only previously electrical experience I had was installing a few outlets in the house. Had this fully installed after a couple hours. Had to run to local hardware store for two cord holders/clamps for 1/2" knockouts; that was the only thing not included, I think because some installations may require conduit due to code. Overall, very pleased.
Simple To Install (If your smarter than a third grader) :-)

We have a lot of power outages and was tired of dragging extension cords all over the house. My husband said this was a snap to install. He had a construction business for 40 years but he mentioned that anyone could do this as long as they didn't have a fear of electricity or opening up a panel box. We now have everything in our home switchable from this transfer box. We have a wood stove so didn't use the 220v for heat or well (water). We have a manual hand pump for water so used all of the six breakers for our 15 and 20 amp breakers. Husband did put all wires in conduit since he didn't do a flush mount (less work not cutting drywall) but the unit looks attractive being a wall mount. The two voltage meters are very accurate!! He tested them with his multi meter. Price was great compared to shopping the regular home improvement stores! The supplied power cord plugged into our new electric start 6500 watt generator so didn't have to change the plug on the end going to the generator! Fantastic purchase all the way!!
A transfer switch is an important part of a safe backup power system.

This will allow me to power my gas fired furnace, refrigerator and some lighting to my house during a power outage without running extension cords around the house.
I installed the power inlet inside the panel for my application with no problems.
It was an hour between turning off the power and restoring the power for the installation.
My only issue that keeps me from giving this 5 stars is that it does not use "standard" breakers that could be replaced if you need a different number of 15 or 20 amp breakers.
Note that the photo by the seller with the caption "Built in junction box for hardwire installation to save time and cost. (patented)." shows 10 breakers at the top of the photo and probably is not a photo of this product.
Some other transfer switch designs are sub panels that require a 30 amp (or larger) 2 pole breaker to feed it. This design does not require that extra breaker.
As with any project, the installation of this panel requires careful planning. Everything was covered in the manual.
If you are considering a backup power system, please be sure to use a transfer switch and resist the temptation to use one of the many goofy shortcuts that I've seen on the internet that could kill someone. These usually involve non-standard methods of powering a furnace.
Very Pleased!

I have a Champion dual fuel generator (gasoline and LP). I just built a house in the mountains and retired to live there full time. We have had some brief outages and the generator has come in handy. But, dragging out extension cords was a pain. This transfer switch will make handling future outages a piece of cake. We have the essential circuits wired up, tested and ready to go.

Quality seems to be very good. Instructions were also very well written.

If you're not very familiar with electricity and used to doing DIY projects, you might want to hire someone to install it. It was not really difficult to install, for me. But, I've got a lot of DIY skills.

I'm very pleased. Highly recommended.
A really good product for your house.

This is an excellent product, well designed and packaged. This kit is includes all needed parts and instructions, including a very good DVD showing a typical installation. WARNING: Please view the DVD and read the instructions before proceeding with this install. When shutting down your electric panel, FIRST put branch breakers to "OFF" then shut "OFF" the main breaker. Always stand to one side of the electric panel, NEVER in front. To restore power, do the reverse, main breaker first, followed by branch breakers. I choose to install the L14-30 device into the panel, rather than the outdoor box. The screws for this are in the bag with the wire nuts. I would recommend not cutting the wire for breaker and load connections. You might want to change connected load in the future. When connecting loads, read the wire letters carefully, not confusing "E" for "F" as an example. Use masking tape to letter the branch breakers per the DVD. A helper is great here for another set of eyes on the work. The time for this install, for me, working carefully, was just under three hours. I also ordered the Reliance Controls L14-30 connector used for an adapter to my generator. When planning your circuits to transfer, remember the electric garage door opener, along with the refrigerator and television. Great product, worth the time, effort, and money to install.
