NICE KNIFE W/TOO LONG SHEATH
M. R. H.July 29, 2017
Great piece of kit. One issue, the hard plastic sheath is an inch too long, adding redundant length and bulk to the sheath. I Emailed Ka-Bar about it and they had no explanation and actually suggested I could contact a custom sheath maker to remedy the issue. Huh?. The knife itself is well made in the USA, and is certainly worth the money. It is larger than it appears in the photos.
Really nice!

Really nice knife, and they have fixed the snap rubbing on the blade problem. At least on mine. Very sturdy, well put together, and aesthetically pleasing to look at. This knife means business, the sheath is a little much. I would have preferred something simple/smaller since I bought it for camping.
Extremely High-Quality Tactical Blade! Ka-Bar Nails It Once Again!
ERFebruary 19, 2017
This knife literally Screams Ka-Bar Quality! The Tanto grind is perfect, grind lines spot-on. Fits the hand perfectly for large or small hands. The weight is perfect for a large fighting knife. Not too heavy, not too light. Feels fast in the hand. This has plenty of reach for penetrating multiple layers of clothing and wicked slashing cuts. I have no reservations about counting on this knife to save my life if it ever came to that. I carry this at my side and it's smaller sibling horizontal in the small of my back. The quality is obvious and it will easily outlive me. For proper blade care, I use Tuf-Cloth for maximum blade protection for every knife I own and I wholeheartedly recommend that to everyone for every blade, coated or not, for proper blade care. This is a Hardcore Tactical Knife, a fighting tool that will never run out of ammunition! This knife reminds me that it's no wonder why so many in the Armed Services and LE rely on Ka-Bar! I give it...10 Stars! ;)
Grade A right here

Don't usually do reviews but this knife is so good I had too. I've been wanting a ka-bar for quite awhile now and decided to finally go for it. This is hands down the best knife in my collection it beats the sog seal team elite on grip comfort and blade length at least to my liking. I have quite the collection now and this still stands as my best. Only complaints is the rat tail tang and the blade coating is damaged much easier than sog or my Gerber lmf. But I use my knives so scratches aren't a problem as far as the tang goes well see if it holds up. But 80 years of marines can't be wrong
Perfect Complement to My New $190 Katana!

First off, it's a KA-BAR, so it's almost impossible to go wrong with buying this.
This tanto is much larger in person than I expected; that extra inch more than the standard 7" KA-BAR blade makes a big difference!
This knife is also super sleek in design, and is scary-sharp for being sharpened somewhere between 17-20 degrees.

The Kydex hard sheath is for the most part a good design. The cross-guard strap is totally unnecessary, though, since the cross-guard locks into the sheath for inverted carry. Using the tanto, I removed the strap by carefully slicing about half an inch up from the rivet on the back. I cut that high so I could seal the frayed threads with a lighter without damaging the nylon on the rest of the belt loop.

Since the snap on the sheath's front is not black and looks bad without the button, I carefully used the tanto to cut the nylon around the button leaving about 1/4" of threads in an octagonal pattern. I then took the button over to my sink, melted the frayed threads with a lighter one side of the octagon at a time, each time quenching the melted nylon against the cold metal of the sink. this created a slight overhang/skirt that hides the snap rivet on the sheath, improving display quality with the removed strap considerably.

I then braided about 30ft of 100lb paracord to the sheath, and stuck a mini ferro rod under the braids (not visible in pictures).

It also throws with bullseye accuracy (use thorn throw, aka "no-spin" or "quarter-spin" technique from 8-10 feet), not that you'd throw a knife at an assailant unless in the absolute most dire combat situation. Oh, and don't be an idiot; if you throw it, use a soft target. This is made to puncture and slice flesh, not to kill trees. Use a target that resembles what the weapon would be used on, or suffer the consequences.

All in all, a superb addition to my blade collection!
