Good product - confusing instructions.

The first time you use it, breaking the little disc inside, you will get heat without heating the item. As it cools, it will become solid. For next use, you heat with boiling water and it becomes liquid and clear again. This time, it remains liquid even after cooling. It was helpful for a hand injury between thumb and forefinger.

holds heat for a long time, recharging is easy, however button disk is hard to press for a second time, had to smash it with a butt of a knife on hard surface to start the reaction after recharging, first time it was just pressing with a finger, but overall good product

I use these while deer hunting. They last for around an hour depending on the temp. They are also not a hassle to reset but can't be done in the field.

I have a few reusable hand warmers, trying to see the differences between each. One thing that seems to happen with reusable hand warmers is reaction before use. You go into your pocket and found they have already gone through their reaction process and the heat with it.
HEAT WAVE FIXES THIS! It's the only one with a plastic ring around the reaction material. It has yet (knock wood) to react before I wanted it to.
So let me put down the pros and cons:
Pro: Reusable...put it in some boiling water and 15 minutes later you're good to go
Pro: Heat...it has enough reactive material to warm my hands and dry out the mittens I had on
Pro: Size...able to fit inside my mittens with a bit of maneuvering.
BIG PRO! Finally, someone addressed how the "react before request" issue!
Con: The only con I can see is that you have to order about 3-4 sets. The duration of heat is not as long as a disposable but you're getting a lot more use
Worth the full 5 stars!

Functional, but be careful when you boil it.

Heats instantly and lon-lasting. Great product overall. However, be careful when you boil it that it does not stick to the bottom of the pan. I wasn't careful and it melted to the bottom of the glass beaker I was using. Then it tore open when I tried to unstick it. But again, otherwise a great product.
