Got my moneys worth!
N EBANKSApril 28, 2017
I have had this filter attached to my refrigerator since AUGUST 2013.
It filter the water going into my refrigerator and have eliminate all bad taste, eliminated any odors and makes the ice and water clear.
NO LEAKS using braided 1/4 compression connectors.
I will ordered a replacement filter soon.
I will replace it around AUGUST of 2018. I am sure that I received my moneys worth,
Nice high-capacity inline filter

I use this inline filter in the water line to my refrigerator's ice maker. This filter in addition to the filter built-in to the refrigerator make a difference in how the water and ice tastes. It also reduces the frequency of filter changes. I change this one every 3 years and the built-in filter every year.

I ordered this filter over 5 years ago as a pre-filter to my refrigerator. The big advantage has been that I only had to replace the expensive internal Bosch filter three times over that same time period, so this filter pays for itself and provides more consistent water to my fridge and ice cubes. I have had absolutely no problems with this filter and am sure it has plenty of years remaining, since no way I am near 20,000 gallons of use. One thing I did have to do is to flush this filter with several gallons of water first in order to remove the particulates which were initially coming out of the filter.
Instead of replacing that piece (which was like $50 from Whirlpool)

I used this to remove the water filter from my fridge. The water connections underneath my fridge where the water filter snaps into the water line had gotten plugged up and no longer allowed water to pass through. Instead of replacing that piece (which was like $50 from Whirlpool), I bypassed it completely and used this filter and mounted it to my wall. To hold it to the wall, I used 2 large zip ties and put a crew through them into the wall, it doesn't weigh very much, so it has held up just fine.

I have city water that has a relatively high chlorine content. The only con I have with this filter is it seems to sometimes not filter out all the chlorine. I would say 80% of the time I can't taste any chlorine, but the other 20% I can-although it's not as strong as without a filter.
Want water that people comment on?
Robert McclainApril 20, 2016
For less than the cost of just one replacement cartridge for my Frigidaire refrigerator, this cartridge does the work of 10-15 OEM units and provides better flow and most importantly, much better taste.

People notice how much better my water tastes; as an example, my 17 year old carries four water containers to school each day, and if a friend asks him to share they often comment on the great taste of the water. Kids don't notice that stuff, but they in this case, they seek him out for his good water.

When kids are well hydrated, they perform better in school and sports.

If you fridge has a cartridge that lives in the interior of the unit, you can buy a bypass unit and install this in the basement ceiling or inside a nearby cabinet and forget about it for 3-4 years or more.
