Awful Wiring for No Fathomable Reason

Good sounds when it works. As many have said though, it has SEVERE wiring problems. I don't think this is even an issue of cheap quality. Even cheap products can be competent enough to get wiring correct, which would seem to be a cheap component. Not sure what it is with this product, but they apparently just despise wiring.
That said, it stayed alive for me for many months, and helped me sleep. For long enough to dtich this and turn to/buy a better sleep aid.
And a few months ago I proudly showed my mom this product. And how I'd might like to even upgrade. She said "well if you do sell this one to me!" as she also sometimes has trouble sleeping. Of course I told her I wouldn't charge her, but also am now in a bit of crisis--If I do upgrade, then I'll have to inform her of this awful wiring and shorts from the system I give her. I don't want to burden her with that.
How hard is wiring??? HoMedics--If you somehow figured that out you'd be a very popular and even long-lasting sound machine. Maybe hire an electrician?

It was great - until it stopped working after a very short time

I purchased this as a sound machine for my newborn baby. It was excellent at first. I loved all the different options and typically used either ocean or white noise for her. However, after only about a week of use it suddenly started acting up. The volume button would not turn the sound on unless I jiggled it just right. After two weeks, it quit completely and will not turn on at all. Very disappointing Luckily it was within the Amazon return period and I was able to return. I had seen the other reviews discussing this issue before purchasing but after looking at all the positive reviews figured those were just flukes. Unfortunately, there is definitely a flaw with this machine. Interestingly, I had another Homemedics alarm/spa relaxation machine a few years ago and that one quit working after about a year of use. I now have to search for an alternative to Homemedics.
Very nice sound machine! Great for a baby's nursery.

My wife and I bought this sound machine to help keep our newborn daughter asleep longer... IT WORKS! My wife has nothing but great things to say about this product. Of course, there are cheaper sound machines out there, but this one is great and is very versatile. It has 6 different sounds that sound great and the volume gets very loud if you want it too. What my wife and I also love about this sound machine is that you can unplug it and put 4 double A batteries in it and take it with you on the go! We will take this out with us when we go to the mall or over to friends house to help drown out the surrounding noise. It works perfect! So far no problems and it and runs about 18-22 hours per day and we have had it for a couple months now.
Must have for babies!

This thing is awesome! I bought this for my baby after getting frustrated night after night of using my ipad, phone and other things for music and sound. I needed something that could play sound ALL night and was loud. This gets really LOUD! I like all the sounds on it except for thunder, that one is a little scary, I can't see why someone would want that one. After playing it an entire night I touched it to see if it got hot and it was cool to the touch! Also, you can use batteries in it if you need to. Would definitely recommend!
Relief for Tinnitus sufferers

I cannot live with out it, or sleep that is. My kids too are hooked, had to buy one for each of them. Personally for me, I have Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) and do not feel comfortable in silence. The HoMedics Spa is to me a silly name, I do not get a Spa experience but do find solace in putting it in Rain or Cricket (bugs) mode. I have one in my reading room as well. The family take it travelling, it has a battery mode, or you can plug it in. The sound quality could be better, it's a bit on the - tinny - side but one quickly puts it out of mind and realizes the benefits the machine gives as apposed to alternative sound machines costing a lot more.
