I purchased this product many, many years ago (not on Amazon) and kept it stored with my emergency supplies and food storage. However, now my Luggable Loo is my companion in my basement near a corner where I regularly teach online for 5 hours straight. I get a few minutes break in between each class, but not nearly enough time for me to run upstairs to a bathroom if I need to. This little potty has saved me on more than one occasion! I always have a trash bag in it so it's ready to use. Mostly, I toss used tissues and cough drop wrappers into it, like I would a regular trash can. I only use it for it's intended purpose when I'm absolutely desperate. After using the Luggable Loo, I remove the seat, which isn't difficult, and close up the bag until I'm finished teaching. Then I replace the bag and take the used one to the trash. Easy! The Luggable Loo is a problem solver! I'm glad I have one!
Update: My daughter and I had to do a road trip to pick up my son from college when classes were moved to online because of the covid-19 pandemic. I didn't want us to need to go into gas stations to use the bathroom. I brought along our luggable loo and lined it with a few plastic trash bags. I poured a few cups of kitty litter into the lined luggable loo and also dropped one bio-pack in it. Our trip was 3 days/2 nights & 1,800 miles. We didn't use a public bathroom at all and we slept in the back our van, not in hotels. The bio-pack really helped the smell to not be so bad whenever we needed to open the lid of the luggable loo for use. When the lid was closed, we didn't smell anything at all. Both mornings, we threw away the used trash bag and started over with a fresh bag, kitty litter, and a bio-pack. Not only did we avoid public restrooms, we also saved time by stopping on the side of the road when nature called instead of exiting to find a gas station when we didn't need gas yet. I will definitely be using the luggable loo on future trips, even when the pandemic has ended. True story.

This is exactly what it looks like in the image, AND is actually high quality and won't give you any unpleasant surprises. To test the strength of the handles, we filled this bucket to within two inches of the brim with water and carried it through our house. The handles didn't bend one bit and are long enough to make carrying relatively easy/comfortable. The black toilet seat snaps onto the top like the lid of a bucket would and the seat cover fits well over the seat. The seat is easy to remove and replace on the bucket, which makes removal of waste easy. Once it is popped on, it stays very snug. It doesn't come off unless you intentionally pull it off. The handles are fashioned in a way that they fit around the seat, so you can carry it with everything assembled. We were willing to pay a lot more for a portable toilet, but all of the expensive ones with flushes and waste containers had at least a few reviews complaining about amount of water required and leaks. This thing could not possibly leak unless it was literally knocked over. It has held someone around 230 lbs so far, so we are content that it is sturdy. The height is perfect for adult and possibly child use. It is slightly lower than a home toilet, but still a comfortable height for an adult. After reading reviews for various waste bags, we decided to simply use doubled up garbage bags and use some of the portable toilet chemicals that gel liquids. From what we can tell, the only advantage to using portable toilet bags is that they already came with the chemicals, and now some aren't even coming with the chemicals anymore, so our garbage bag idea came from someone who said it works as well as buying the portable toilet bags. This is not only going camping with us, but will join us on a trip to a multi-night family reunion on large property with a home that only offers one toilet outside of the master bath. So, consider it for outdoor casual events too and either buy one of the pop up toilet/shower tents, or construct a simple PVC pipe structure to throw a tarp or shower curtain over for privacy. Between this and the Camp Shower, we have no need to go to pay-camp-sites anymore, even with more squeamish camping friends.
UPDATE: Just came back from a 3 day camping trip and used this the entire time. It was incredibly handy. I went overkill and used a triple layer of trash bags inside of it, to prevent any leaks, and the lid still fit on very snug even with the three layers of trash bags. The black plastic gets warm in direct sun, almost hot, but not uncomfortably so. The lid accumulated moisture/dew overnight, but the seat itself was never wet, and even in below 40 degree temp, was never uncomfortably cold. At the end of the trip, we simply closed up the trash bags and left them in the closed bucket until we could get home. Very easy. On previous trips, I'd avoid drinking water to limit inconvenient trips out into the woods, but knowing I had this allowed me to drink all the extra water I needed at higher altitudes. I highly recommend the portable toilet chemicals that solidify/gel liquids. They help deodorize. We didn't smell a thing the entire time, even when packing up the refuse at the end of the trip.

I am a fisher woman, who just purchased my first boat this year. I looked at the larger boats that had potties on board and plumbed. Upon doing a lot of research, I realized that numerous boaters had a smell issue with their potties and folks found them more trouble than anything. Well, I primarily fish at night and did not want to beach somewhere in the woods and risk fighting numerous bugs or slithering things that would likely be in the vicinity of my butt and lady parts. I am a Disabled Vet with knee issues; so hanging my tail and such over the edge of my boat was a no-go as well.
I remembered reading reading about a guy who purchased his wife a large poncho so she could go on shore and take care of "business." Well as I said above, shoring at night was not an option for me. Long story short...I purchased 3 large ponchos for me and my family along with a Luggable Loo (bucket with a toilet seat).
These ponchos I purchased were very large, long and roomy. I just put my arms on the inside; opened the top to my Loo, making sure my poncho was on the outside of the toilet seat top; I sit down and comfortably do whatever I need to do. I have sit on the smaller, lower porta-potties and they hurt my knees a lot and are awkward to get up from, especially on a boat. However, this setup is fantastic. I have some clumping kitty litter in the bucket and pretty much just smell the litter scent. Just get a small, but durable litter scooper and keep some plastic bags with you. Scoop out the "debris," put it in a bag and dispose of it in an appropriate place...not the woods or in the water. Tidbit...it is best to keep something plastic over the Loo to keep moisture from getting in. We originally did not and caught a wretched mess cleaning the super gooey-clumped litter out of the Loo. It is also best to clean it after each use to be on the safe side. You could also use the bio-enzyme liquid stuff; however, I found that to be very nasty and the liquid would cause a serious mess if the bucket is accidentally knocked over.
Because my poncho is so big, I am also able to do hit the Loo around other boaters who have not idea what I am doing, unless they are watching me like a hawk. It simply looks like I am sitting down with a poncho on. There is plenty of room for wiping and situating clothing before I take off the poncho.
I was recently in Tennessee fishing and bought one of these for me to use, primarily for shore bathroom use...daytime of course. I think hunters, boaters, fishermen, campers and other outdoorsmen or women will find these to be comfortable and very functional. I am an over 200lb chic (big-boned, but still as cute as a button) and the Luggable Loo holds my weight just fine. I feel totally secure and have not had problems at all using it!!! While there may be cheaper solutions out there, this Loo fits my needs absolutely fine and seems durable enough to last a very long time in all sorts of conditions.
I highly recommend these Loos for not just women but for men, kids, the elderly and on land or sea!!!
