This item may handle 500lbs, but it is not very sturdy. It wobbles a great deal. Also the wheels do not lock real well. It does however assemble easy and is very lightweight. Not sure if the weight is a positive or a negative. The platforms are the most sturdy part of the entire thing.
Overall it is worth the money if you just want something for small jobs, and do not need to get up very high. I bought it for trimming my hedges that are fairly tall, and it is going to work good for that. I am sure the wobbling will be something I get used to when I spend some time on it. If I had to do over again I would spend a bit more and get a better quality system.
