Got this for my dad because he had encountered bears and wild dogs while out walking. I hope he never has to use it. He likes that he can attach it to his belt. I like that he can continue to get his walks in.

Although this spray is effective...BUYER BEWARE of the complete cheapness and fragility of the plastic top area. We used this can just the other day using 3/4 spray at a bear. Next day when picking up the can by "looped handle" the top completely broke off and, it cannot be replaced. No such product should ever, as in ever, be packaged so cheaply! After all folks. It may very well be a matter of serious injury of worse when bears are involved. We do hope you find this review useful.
Update (8-18-2017). I changed my rating of this product primarily due to Nicole Robbins, Sabre Quality Assurance & Safety Manager, personally reaching out to me regarding this product. Nicole expressed the company's desire to get our canister back for their inspection and our customer satisfaction.
We were sent a "no cost shipping label" to return the product while also receiving a free no cost replacement.
We would like to reiterate that this product is extremely effective. Just as importantly we are pleased to know and like to share that it is apparent to us that Sabre appears to be 100% committed to total Customer Satisfaction!

It's nice to know it's on my belt but hope I don't need to use it. I came close during archery season when a bear I did not want to shoot came with a few yards. The click when I removed the safety latch was enough to scare him off.
