Metal Prep didn't work for me

I followed the directions exactly as they were written. The degreaser worked fine, but the metal prep did not work well at all. I couldn't tell that it did much of anything. After spending half a day working on this I decided to scrap the whole project and bought a new fuel tank. I didn't even get to the sealer part before I gave up. It wasn't easy getting the tank off the car, I'm not going to trust the rest of the kit if the metal prep wasn't doing anything.
