Sticking with my Foley.
gremelkin•November 22, 2017
I'm actually giving this 3 1/2 stars. I bought this because of the different size discs and rubber coated feet. It's first use was to make jellied cranberry sauce.
The pros are that using the fine disc did a decent job of removing the pulp and most of the seeds from the cranberries. The rubber feet gripped the bowl without scratching or damage.
The cons are that the hold-down bar gets in the way when trying to stir or scrape the sides and bottom of the mill. The scraper blade doesn't make good contact with the disc, which left some berries not completely macerated. I turn the blade backwards so I can clean the pulp out from under it as well as clean the surface of the disc. Due to the blade not making solid contact with the disc, it was more difficult to remove the food trapped under the blade.
While this is a decent food mill and I like having 3 sizes of discs, it doesn't work as well as my old trusty Foley. I'll stick to my Foley for jams and jellies, and may try using this when pureeing food or mashing potatoes.

Purchased this to make fresh tomatoe sauce. It worked better than I expected and im definitely happy with the results!
Glad I made this purchase

Since I have an abundance of fresh tomatoes from my garden I decided to make pasta sauce. Most of the recipes that I saw recommended the use of a food mill. Since I didn't want seeds and skin in my sauce and I absolutely didn't feel like scoring, blanching and peeling, I decided to purchase one. The unit is constructed well, and seems to be of very good quality. It's easy to assemble and use plus the rubber legs prevented the mill from slipping around on top of the plastic bowl that I was using. It made pureeing the tomatoes a breeze! It was easy to disassemble and cleaning the unit was easy with exception to the grinding disc which is to be expected. Overall, I would recommend the Oxo Good Grips Food Mill.
Decent mill

So far this food mill has saved me enough time to be worth the cost. Several reviews mentioned that this mill left behind too much food waste, but that hasn't been my experience. The directions suggest that if you reverse the crank counterclockwise every once in awhile while milling, the blade clears away any skins that are blocking the grate and not allowing food to pass though. I also found that working in small batches helped to reduce waste. It was easy to assemble and so easy to operate that my preschool kids were able to mill the applesauce for me.
It was very easy and produced a real smooth applesauce

First time using a food mill. And this is my first time making apple sauce. It was very easy and produced a real smooth applesauce. Easy to clean food mill and quality looks real good.
