Two defective right out of the box
never again✓ Verified Purchase•March 6, 2017
First one I received had a part loose inside making a rattling noise and wouldn't start. Amazon shipped a second from a different seller and it kept turning off after running for less than 14 minutes. That is two defective right out of the box. That's enough for me. I called the manufacturer and these are not current models of this heater. I would not purchase this product again and wished I had read and believed the other reviews.
Love, love

Love, love, love, did I say that I love this heater? It is the best! I went through several other blower type heaters before I found this one. I use it for my bedroom and the other ones with fans were supposed to be very quiet but when a fan clicks on and off at night it's very annoying! Also the blower type heaters warm just when they're pointed and I wanted something more like how a radiator warms a room quite and cozy. This fan makes absolutely no noise! And it has this soft evenly spread heat that warms the whole room perfectly. It does have that initial horrible smell but I put it in a room on high for an hour with window open and all gone. Really do love this heater! Oh it's also super easy to assemble and so light to move around. Love!
So Happy To Have This!

I bought this one from the Amazon Warehouse and one way or another the handle broke off. I don't recall that it came that way, but I stored it shortly after I bought it when the weather improved and the appropriate screws weren't packed with it to attach the wheels to the unit. I eventually found out that they needed 7mm screws I think they were. There was only one of the number I needed but I found the rest at the big box HD. I have this in a room with only one door. It is a nice sized room with an ell, but it keeps it warm and cozy. There are old double hung windows in this room but I have them sealed with the plastic shrink wrap for winter. The house is old and poorly insulated but in spite of that, this room is comfortable this winter with this heater. I think this heater may have a hard time performing in a room with multiple doors and a lot of activity. At any rate, I am happy to recommend it to anyone keeping in mind the limitations.
Comparing this Bionaire heater with the DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater

I'm very happy with this heater. I also have a DeLonghi HMP1500 Mica Panel Heater but I like this Bionaire heater better. They both heat well with a very comfortable, non-drying heat, but the DeLonghi unit has a slight hum (more noticeable on high) whereas this one is silent. I also like that the thermostat on this heater seems more effective. I always have to fiddle with the Delonghi to keep the room at the temperature I like, but this Bionaire will maintain a more accurate, constant temperature. Heat from the Bionaire emanates from both side panels and the top. Heat from the Delonghi comes out the top and front panel. The DeLonghi can be mounted on the wall, making it more unobtrusive in the room. They both weigh around 12 pounds and are very easy to move from room to room. They both heat a medium to large room very quickly, but if the room is really cold, I'll turn the unit on high for 15-30 minutes, then drop it down to low and leave it there. Most of the time it heats more than adequately on low making it very economical since I keep the central heat turned down low, and use this heater to keep the room I'm in at a cozy temperature. I've noticed this heater seems to heat the room more quickly, even on low, than the DeLonghi. The only negative I can find with this heater is that it smelled pretty bad the first time I used it, but that's to be expected with any new heater like this and the smell went away after using it a couple days. If you're looking for a safe, quiet heater with a decent thermostat that gives very cozy heat without a fan that can dry out the air, give this one a try. If you like having the option to mount it on the wall to save space, the DeLonghi would be your best bet. If I ever need another one for any reason, I'd definitely buy this one over the DeLonghi because overall, it's a more effective heater.
Works well, but surrounding area gets hot.

Heats up quickly and maintains a steady heat. I use it as supplemental heat in a 400 sf living area in Seattle, well insulated condo. The unit does feel hot to the touch and the surrounding area gets hot. It cannot be placed near a wall or furnishings.
