Good bookshelf for price, but feels cheap
Amy Lynn✓ Verified Purchase•December 24, 2017
This little bookshelf is good for the price. It serves its purpose and keeps my daughters books in one place instead over scattered everywhere.
I would buy it again, but it should be noted that...
1) The book pockets are a little deep for board books (unless they are huge), so you cannot see what book is in it peaking through the top.
2) The material for the book pockets is very thin/flimsy. It has a crinkly, thin texture.
3) The shelf itself is pretty sturdy, but my 12 month old wild-child was shaking it earlier and I have decided that it defiantly needs securing because she could totally flip it if she tried.
UPTATE: so I never bolted it and she now intentionally knocks it over all the time. If my 12 month old daughter can flip it that easily, I can't imagine what a 2 year old would do! Bottom line, this needs to be be secured thoroughly to avoid an accident! On the other hand, it isn't very heavy so I don't think it could really do that much damage, but when loaded with books it may get pretty heavy
SECOND UPDATE: I found my daughter squirming under this thing after it fell on top of her! She was giggling and thought it was funny, but I panicked and have since removed this from her play area.

It's okay.

Pros: It seems sturdy right now and was easy to put together.
Cons: Right now it is fine, but I am expecting the colored "fabric" to get a hole in it. The material has a papery sound to it and is not very thick or
tightly woven.
They claim that it is wood, but I believe it is just laminate over a "wood product". The dowels are metal, although that is not necessarily bad.
The pockets are too deep for most of the toddler board books we have.
I believe if it would have been more accurately described, I might not have been so disappointed. I did get it for a good price but may have rather paid more for a higher quality product.

well made, but pockets need tweaking
Renee✓ Verified Purchase•March 10, 2017
Overall, well made, but the pockets are one size fits all and books are all different sizes...little books won't be seen, they are lost down in the pocket. Real big books (like in a Kinder classroom) topple out if they are knocked into or touched.
I would recommend making bottom pocket less deep so small books can be seen, and making the top row deeper for large books. The two middle pockets work well with possibly 12-15" books.

Love his shelf

Love his shelf. I replaced the fabric which was very easy to do and now my daughter can easily access all her books. If you want to change out the fabric, it'll take 2 yards.
This is part my fault for not reading the dimensions and assuming this shelf was like the others I have seen that are heavy and

I guess I didn't read the dimensions properly, I had one similar when my two were younger and was buying this one for a gift.
When I received it, it was the height of my knees! (I'm 5'1!).
I guess it would be okay for a toddler to grab a book, but then you also have to worry about this tipping over if he does.
This is part my fault for not reading the dimensions and assuming this shelf was like the others I have seen that are heavy and solid, but also, the picture was deceiving to make it look as such.
The picture was taken with the shelf next to my stair rail which also has a small holiday sign hanging from it!
It's still lower than the sign.
Wouldn't buy this again or recommend it to anyone.
