This is what I was searching for, I just didn't realize it...

I tried a stainless basket-style infuser, and it was constructed of 3 pieces, very lightly welded together, with sharp edges that were already looking stressed and reviews complained of them falling apart within just a few uses in some cases...
I saw how shoddy the workmanship was and returned it, and started looking some more. Fakespot gives this basket a great score, which made me feel a lot better about the purchase. I'm tired of seeing reviews that have been "bought" in some way or are simply fabrications by the seller, so now I check them at Fakespot...
So I saw this "brewing basket", but passed it up several times due to some issues raised in the reviews, before remembering that back when I drank coffee, we had used a very similar filter, just bigger and of a different shape - also of German make. And it was very durable (still have it and could use it if we still drank coffee), easy to clean and worked even on finely ground coffee, letting very minimal (if any) sediment through. That seems to be true with this basket too. Think of the mesh as being more of a steel chiffon - it is that finely wrought. Dust may get through, not much else. But for being so delicately woven, it is sturdy and so long as you don't go sticking forks or knives in it, it should hold up to normal use and cleaning.
Several reviews complained about this being "too big", which might be the case for smaller "tea cups", of 6 or 8 oz, maybe, especially if they have rounded bottoms. But I think this is fine for a 10oz and up cup.
And since it has been so hard to get good answers for the height and width, I've uploaded pictures with a ruler for reference - you can see the measurements for yourself. The measuring cup is a one cup Pyrex, and the basket handles do not span it, but it does sit in the cup well enough, if you wanted to brew spices or something. The basket weighs just 18 grams (a bit more than half an ounce) and causes only a bit of displacement (something that you don't want to discover with boiling water and a cup straight from the microwave!). In my 12oz cup, the water level rises about 1 centimeter, a bit less.
Made of what appears to be two pieces of what I know to be very durable plastic, heat welded into a solid piece with the "gold" mesh between. So basically this is like one solid piece. The wings/handles are not so long or thin as to feel like they are likely to easily snap off.
I'm impressed with how quickly the tea drains from the filter. Doesn't matter if it is a big oolong leaf, or a bunch of tiny bits of broken Irish Breakfast, nothing has gotten through to my cup. I heat my filtered water in the cup, in the microwave. Once hot, I add the basket, with the desired amount of tea, but only partway at first, and then gently shake the basket so as to swish the tea about and get it well saturated immediately and then finally settle the basket down into the cup. Leave it for the appropriate amount of time, pull the tea and let it drain for a few moments (a gentle downward shake can be helpful, as can tilting the basket slightly) before setting the basket in the lid/catchment. If your tea is a multi-steep type, the basket can hold the leaves until your next cup. It empties very easily, and a quick rinse clears it of remaining debris. If the oils from tea build up, I'll try a baking soda bath, but if that fails, I know that LA Awesome will dissolve the oils completely (even coffee oils).
If this doesn't last me at least a couple of years, with only minimal care taken, I will come and update this review.

I've been using it for almost an year, but has absolutely NO PROBLEM with its performance :) I got it for 9.95, but now it is 16.73 (wow!)
I love the investment, I made an year back.. haha. There are several great features with this design, although I wonder often whether the plastic leaves any traces of it into hot infusions. The great design features are the space it allows herbs/tea to expand in hot water unlike infuser spoons or balls, which also I've used over years. This is the best design in my view. Another lovely feature is its lid, which doesn't allow any volatiles from the herbs/tea to escape, of course besides keeping the infusion warm if not hot. can be used as a tray to place the infuser before drinking, to avoid mess on the table. Another important feature I have to mention is the mesh, which is super-fine that doesn't allow any bits of tea/herbs to fall through! Only thing if I'm not wishing for more is.. someone shud mold an infuser with this same mesh without any plastics!

Good buy; practical use.

This is a pretty nice basket for tea infusions. I use it with a 46 oz pot (for hot tea), and with a 32 oz pitcher (for cold tea). Two heaping tablespoons of loose tea fill it one-quarter full -- which is perfect for a little concentrated cold tea (with iced cubes) or a big pot of hot tea. Because it's a brand-specific product it might not fit your teapot exactly, but there are two flanges on the top opposite each other that extend the diameter of the fit about one inch total. Good buy.
Revolutionized tea for me! So happy I found it!

I bought this at the recommendation of a random testing website, and I couldn't be happier! I haven't been big on using loose leaf tea because it is such a pain to clean up the strainer/filters, but this makes it a breeze! I have a metal thermos and this fits perfectly inside. I only have one large mouth soup mug that is to wide for the strainer, the medium size fits every other mug and container I own. I knock out the leaves, give it a rinse, and it is ready for the next use. I've enjoyed it so much that I've been bringing from home to work, from work to home so I can use it all the time. I'm back to buy a second one so I don't have to keep traveling with it.
It has a "cap" but I use it more as a drip tray to let my leaves cool off. The other great part is the wide opening- you can use a regular spoon to scoop in the tea. No mucking around with small openings or little latches. I wish I would have found it sooner.
And the mesh is super fine. I haven't had a speck of leaf in my tea.

Absolutely perfect tea infuser.

When I started looking for a good infuser, I was a little overwhelmed by all the different kinds, and really it didn't look like any of them could keep the loose leaves out of the cup. I came across this almost by accident, since it's listed as a "brewing basket" rather than a tea infuser. I'm so glad I found it! I bought it based on the glowing reviews, and they were right. This is exactly what I was looking for. The basket is big enough for the leaves to uncurl and brew properly, and the mesh is so tiny, there is NO spillage of tea leaves into the cup. Literally none. It made the perfect cup of tea. I like the mesh being all the way around, including the bottom, because it makes it easy to clean. It's well built and I'm sure it will last a long time. The cap is great both as a cover and as a coaster to keep the counter clean. I really love this little thing. When I read all the reviews, I was going back and forth on which size to order. A lot of the reviews said to just go for the large, but the cups I use for tea aren't huge. They are the cups that came with my set of dishes. I ended up ordering the medium size, and it's exactly right. I'm including a couple of pictures in case it can help someone who is unsure of which size to order. If you're looking for a great tea infuser, buy this one! It's perfect.
