Does what I needed it to do

Easy to assemble, even for the novice. I needed a booster amp between my cable set top box and my TV. The volume level on HBO channels was so low that, at max, dialogue was lost in my ambient house noise. Needed to boost it by 10 dB or so. This worked perfectly, and the price was very modest. Cheap solution to an annoying problem, for me anyway.
The instructions were good, it assembled in minutes

First of all - shipping. I ordered this with two-day shipping, but it took five days. The vendor was not the problem - USPS screwed it up by delivering it to the wrong address (and then denying that it was their fault).
Next - the product. The instructions were good, it assembled in minutes, and it worked the first time. Like one of the other reviewers, I saw clipping on the output, but reducing the gain (as described in the instructions) fixed the problem. It was a cheap and unique solution to an odd problem.
It's good.

It's a good pre-amplifier for amateurs. It has good and clear gains. But it depends on what you hook up around it. My set-up, Audio-Technica stereo condenser microphone, which has about 4.5mV out, output to a desk-top PC line-in, and with no-name 12V DC power adaptor were connected. And I have low level audible hum, even I added 330uF cap on power line. I'm going to work out to eliminate the hum. It may not be shielding, rather odd combination with a computer and/or may be poor power supply circuit. Anyway, I will have fun time with it.
Works great.

I got two of these preamplifiers. I needed them to interface HDMI monitors' audio outputs to stereo amps. The outputs from the monitors were too weak even when I had the volume turned up all the way on them. So, I had to turn up the master volume on my stereo amps in order to hear what was playing on the monitors. Then I would forget to turn the master volume down on the stereo amps. So when I switched an amp to a different input I would often wake up the neighbors. Anyway, I mounted these preamplifiers in little cases and added panel-mount potentiometers to them replacing the tiny board mounted ones. I added RCA jacks to the cases as well as power-supply jacks and a power switch and LED. Then I got 12V wall-warts for them. Works great.
Five Stars

Amplifier worked great. Had to modify it slightly for my use.
