This will NOT totally shut-off the water flow.

If you want something to totally shut of the water flow, like I did, this is NOT what you want. If you are content to just significantly slow down the water while you lather up, this is great.

Quite simply, the shut-off valve we received did not work. Water leaked through when the valve was in shut position. Pretty simple device, but this one did not do it's simple job.

Since shower faucets no longer come with flow controls, installing this valve inline with the shower head restores that ability. Once again, you can reduce the flow while you're shampooing your hair, and turn up the flow to rinse it. Turn down the flow to rinse the beach sand off your sunburned body instead of feeling like your sunburned skin is being sandblasted. It's an easy way to adjust your water conservation without installing permanent flow restrictors.

We have used a shower cutoff for many years and recently purchased a new shower head that did not have a shut off. This shut-off is metal and it works perfectly. Now we can get in get wet, turn the water off, lather up and then turn it back on to rinse. I love it.

Should have listened to critical reviews. This valve looks to be of great quality and is all chromed brass construction. However, IMO, the product design or quality control is badly flawed. Under 58# water pressure the knob which adjusts flow becomes difficult to turn unless you first push in on it which will usually make it turn more easily. If you just force turn stubborn knob, it will pop out of the valve body and spray water everywhere. Love everything about the valve except... it just doesn't work right. Will be returning to Amazon.
