Great Fan for a Great Price
Thomas Smith•February 9, 2017
I bought two of these fans to spread the heat from my wood stove throughout my home. My home is about 2800 sqft and after installing one fan on the wall in my stairwell leading upstairs and one in my dinning room wall I haven't had to run my oil heater to supplement cold spots in my house. These little fans push some air!! They are so quit you wouldn't even know they were running. Only one issue is the one fan I installed in my dinning room whistle's slightly when at top speed. It may be air cavitation from the temp differential from the two rooms? Regardless I just slow the fan down slightly until you don't hear it. That's another nice feature for a lack of better words the dimmer switch allows you to adjust the fan speed. It's very nice. GREAT PRODUCT!!

The fan is about a quiet as a fan can be. On low speed I can hardly hear it. The front air flow grill can be rotated to change the direction of the outflowing air. Installation was straight forward, though the alignment process to mark the inlet hole was a little confusing. I used a small adjustable carpenters square and that worked out fine.
I use it to move warm air from the wood stove heated basement to my homes main floor. The fan is located in the wall that is between the downstairs stairwell wall and a main floor hall wall.
The air direction sticker (indicator) that is locate on the inside of the air flue was pointing in the wrong direction, which caused some confusion, but i was able to verify the direction looking at the product pictures provided on the amazon website.
The plastic front and back panels sticks out from the wall about 3/4 of an inch. Which could be inconvenient in some applications.

Pretty much exactly what I expected

Pretty much exactly what I expected. I works well to move the heat into an adjoining room. We only need to turn it up about half way so it's pretty quiet. If you turn it ll the way up it's a little loud but it's not the motor, it's just the air movement. I mounted it up high and put in an on/off switch. Makes it a little harder to change fan speed but I know that going in. the receiving side is just the round vent so it is much less noticeable. About the only negative - and it's slight - is that the the surface extends out a good 3/4 inch from the wall. In the picture it looks much thinner. As usual with Amazon, it arrived in good condition in reasonable time.

I own a 100 yr old farm house with two wood stoves and since we only use one at a time, we always ended up with a hot room and a cold room depending on which stove was in use. The Suncourt Thru-Wall Fan fixed the problem. I mounted it at ceiling height in the room that had the wood stove that is used 90% of the time and directed the output into the cold room. The fan is extremely quiet and pushes enough air to balance out the temperature between the two rooms. I keep it at full speed and even then, its hard to hear the fan. Love the output grill and rotates so I can change the air flow direction up, down or sideways. A previous reviewer suggested to use carbon paper to transfer the template onto the wall. I decided to tape the template to the wall and I used a tack to mark the cut out every 1/2" or so and than connected the dots with a pencil. I then used the duct extension to align the next cut out and traced the outside of the duct on the opposite wall. The directions were confusing to me with regards to this step so I improvised. I am very pleased with the quality and performance of this fan. My only complaint and I'm being nit picking is the fan housing is not flush mount to the wall, it sticks out ~ 1 inch. Overall, its an excellent product, does what its designed to do. My only regret is that I didn't purchase this years ago. Suggestion to the Suncourt Company, please design one that has a reversible fan so I can change direction of the output. I'm giving you Five stars for an excellent product that exceeded my expectations.
Has all the pros and cons you would imagine from having a hole through your wall.

This does a great job of moving air without a lot of noise. Initially I created a duct inside the wall so the inlet and outlet were offset from each other, with rock wool on the inside to eat the sound. This worked perfectly, letting virtually no sound and no light through, but the air transfer was poor enough to render the fan useless. When installed as intended, the air transfer is good (measured 84 degrees at the outlet, just through the wall from my wood stove). The on/off/speed control makes it a better value because you don't have to buy and mount those somewhere else. I don't like that it sticks into the room about 1". Would be nice if it just looked like a grill on the wall, but that might exclude use on a standard 4" thick wall (stud + dual 1/2" drywall), without changing the profile of the fan mount. Conceivably possible to flush mount, but would require some real drywall cutting skill to use the front lip, which is less than 1/4". I would also rather see a standard register vent type cover for the inlet side instead of that round cover. Then you could close it to block air/sound/light better if desired. It would also look less strange in a living area.
