Good Optic with a Certain Cool Factor
Dave B•May 26, 2018
Ordered this optic but it requires a signature to get delivered, which is completely understandable. I did not receive mine because UPS attempted 3 times to deliver it but I was not home during any of those times.I wrote a one star review originally not because the optic was bad or the supplier was bad but because I never got to try it out. The supplier contacted me and in a very professional and courteous way explained that they were sorry for the non-delivery but they really don't want these items to get stolen if just left on a porch (or wherever), these optics aren't cheap. I understand 100%, so I bought the optic from a local supplier in order to skip the whole signature thing. The optic is nice, it's a little on the big side but that's all right, it's just really cool to own the same optic that for a very long time has been used by every major and a lot of minor federal and local law enforcement personnel and the military. The only difference is the one I bought is the model 552 which is identical to the 512 except the 552 has night vision capabilities. They are the same size, shape, color and over all appearance, except the 552 has an extra button for NV selection and the reticle is not visible to the naked eye in NV mode. But it is a good optic and I hope it last me a long time and like I said there is a certain cool factor that goes along with it. Now whenever I watch a movie or a TV show and they are being optics accurate when they show some LE or military packing their combat rifle and they have this EOTech on it, I can say "Hell yeah I got one of those."
I was an iron sight hold out for years, but I love it.

I like to wait awhile to really get a feel for a product before i write a review. Ive had this sight for a few years now and have put it through its paces.
I originally bought this sight when I decided to do a night competition shoot, for years I was a staunch proponent of iron sights. The thinking being that they dont require batteries, and they're made out of metal. Well this sight is very easy on batteries, and also has a metal housing.
As far as the battery life goes, I originally put two lithium batteries in it and have never changed them.
The sight itself is easy to adjust. It seems to hold it's zero, I 've never had to adjust it. The dot is supposedly the smallest on the market. Shooting long range I notice that the dot is about a third of the width of the front sight post, which is pretty small. The circle around the dot isn't really necessary for longer range shooting and is kind of a distraction, but for quick close range shooting it's perfect. If the circle is on target that's good enough.
The sight goes very dim, which is very useful for longer range shooting in the dark, and gets bright enough to be used in full sunshine. Two thumbs up for being adjustable.
The two different buttons both turn it on. its auto shutoff feature depends on which button you turn it on with, one being four hours and the other being eight hours, not really important to me, but could be to someone.
The glass is nice, looking at it from the front, it doesn't give off any light, not really an issue for me, but could be for someone hunting or whatever... It is affected by rain in that rain drops will get on the glass making it hard to see through, especially at night. But the good news is it has never really fogged up on me.
This is a very nice sight, just be sure you're hip to the circle around the dot as it doesn't go away.
I would buy this again.

FANTASTIC! EOTech.

man, at first I was all bent out of shape because the reticle was blurry as all get out- I thought to myself that murphy had struck again but this time on my first ever, brand new EOTech... I read some previous reviews talking about not being able to get the reticle to come in crisp as you often see in photographs. come to find out that I have a severe astigmatism- so much so that I cannot discern the little notches on the 12,3,6,9 o'clock portions of the outer ring. thankfully once I put on my glasses (that I almost never wear) the reticle cleared up and was as I imagined when I bought this. it was well worth the fight to get my wife to agree to such a needed purchase.
the low light settings are fantastic, and full brightness during sunny conditions is more than enough. the weight isn't that terrible as people often reference the weight in a negative way. I paired this baby up with a primary arms extended eye relief magnifier and they work together like PB and J.
as a side note to the clown who wrote the unneeded, pious review stating that Steven Paddock used this in the Vegas tragedy, because of your biased agenda and message to the rest of us amazon shoppers, I was that much more driven to buy this product! thank you for your review!!!

A dream come true.

I have wanted one of these for years, and saw them on sale at a decent price here on Amazon so took the plunge.
No problem at all mounting this sight on my AR-15. Took it to the range and zeroed it at 50 Yards with only minor adjustment to the windage. Very easy to mount on the rail and extremely easy to zero. I could not believe how good I was shooting using this sight. It took some practice to shoot with both eyes open but no problem now.
This is the best sight I have ever owned and I'm sorry I waited so long to purchase a sight like this one.

Durability is the first thing I like about it

Durability is the first thing I like about it. I love the huge field of view...both eyes open and on target. Takes a few minutes to get used to the pixally reticle, but this is how it is set up to keep you on target at any angle of view. I love it.....LOVE IT! 150 yards is as far as I have been with it...but not a problem. When you put it on your rifle, you will see where the money went....QUALITY!
