I had the 3-1 pen and I loved how multifunctional it was. I particularly needed to go between pencil, black, red, and highlighter but you can only ask so much from a pen yet this pen delivered in every way possible. So when my beloved pen was misplaced I decided to order another with my new one having an extra blue for the rare times I need it or to be switched to an extra for a more used color. Love this pen and would buy more except you only really need one pen, this pen in particular.

i got this one to replace one that i received as a gift while in college over 20 years ago. i absolutely loved that pen. while it is slightly different from this one (the old was seemed lighter and skinnier) this one has the same functionality. i'm not sure about the ink but so far, all colors of the ink write smoothly. same with the old pen. i love love this pen. i was so sad when i couldn't find the last one. thankfully, i did find it and am happy to have this one as a back up. you can never have too many 4-in-1 pens the size of a single pen. it's heavy and solid.
i had a fancier and more expensive 3-in-1 pen, dropped it, and it stopped working. the last one, i've dropped several times and it's as solid as a tank. i'm hoping to expect the same of this one.

Have written computer code for a long time and do use all four functions of this pen! Some folks may remember, "different strokes for different folks" - it is appropriate for this device.
This is only the 3rd rOtring multi-function pen I have had in 30 years! I have been fortunate to not loose the first two. In fact, they still work perfectly, still look nice, even thou "somewhat" used. This rOtring may be the best of the lot! As with the other two pens, I hope I am able to maintain possession of this pen for a number of years.

The ink colors are red, blue, & black with a pencil. I would gladly trade the pencil for a green ink cartridge but that isn't offered. I prefer a separate mechanical pencil but I knew this before ordering. This instrument represents the most workable compromise that I could find.
