I purchased this meter on May 15th, 2016 for an indoor garden bed and it worked great for a while (made knowing when to water so much easier), unfortunately after just 5 months of use the seal in the unit has already failed allowing water to enter the PCB\LCD area rendering the meter useless. Needless to say I'm not impressed with the quality of the until and I'm hoping Sustainable Village will make things right.

I have killed many plants by not watering properly. I bought an expensive houseplant recently and was worried I might kill it despite the plant being very tolerant of water. I purchased the Blumat to monitor the moisture levels. I followed the instructions (which involved filling the Blumat with water) and placing it correctly in the soil based on the plant's location.

So far houseplant is doing well. I have been using this over 6 months. I have not needed to replace the batteries or refill the water yet.

It seems to work as designed but is not very useful. The reading has not changed for a week in spite of rainy days and sunny days.

I( purchased three of these moisture meters on the advice of someone that I thought knew what they were talking about. Obviously, I was wrong! All three of these products have failed just months after purchase. One was inoperable right out of the package. I am not sure if I am being sent old, out of date products, but I would run from this product if I were you. The batteries are located in the same place as the computer board, and it has a very flimsy gasket on the opener, and it is impossible to get it back on properly after changing that battery. Condensation gathers on the inside of the digital reader, and overall failure.
