The alan keys are rounded and the Key is not square either Can not tighten up to hold a piece of stock safely to turn. Hate it with a passion. I would say I got what I paid for but I think I still overpaid. But on the up side it makes a great door stop or paper weight. They did offer a chance to return it to them but I have to pay for return shipping and a restocking fee of 10%. It cost me $10.00 to ship it to me but only $8.00 to return. Jaws adjust individually with a T tool too small to apply much torque, the adjustment screws don't ride center so when you tighten your work at least one of the screws for the other jaws will be off and you can't get the tool into the hole. tried turning a 12" piece of square stock and it wouldn't hold after removing the tail stock so I rounded off one end and added a tenon. Still no luck. Cut the end flush and flipped the jaws to give more contact and it still won't hold solid even down to a six inch piece of stock.
I might have gotten one that slipped quality control but I would still say save your money and spend it on a better quality chuck. This one is headed back.

I made a spindle from a bolt to mount this on a metal lathe which works very well.
