Wonderful Product and Wonderful Company and Customer Service!

I have several of these in different sizes and love them all. The lid actually seals very well, better than most glass containers. I did have a problem with the one I ordered in this size because the lid was damaged in transit but no worries, I contacted Anchor Hocking directly and they sent me a new and perfect lid!

The glass jar itself is very nice, but lid is cheap metal and came in dented up. We had to push out dent, and color of lid is faded, but a little touch up paint will take care of that!
Love these canisters

Love these canisters! The black lids are rustic because the coating is matte black and rough to the touch so it goes with my farmhouse look in the kitchen. I bought several sizes to use on open shelves with baking supplies in them. The seal on the lid is not completely airtight so I put a sugar bear ( a ceramic bear that you moisten with water to keep it from drying out) in the bottom of the jar. The jars have big enough openings to easily get four, sugar, coffee, etc. out. I have had many compliments on them!
Airtight and attractive

We have other Montana jars and purchased this to store dog food. Its airtight, so it keeps the food fresh and is also a very pretty jar. We leave it on the counter, and it's so much more attractive than plastic storage options or an unsightly bag of dog food. I would caution that this is a HUGE jar, so make sure you have space for it!
Lids Are A Problem

The jars are a decent size. I do like they are short and wide. However the black metal lids are slightly scratched. They arrived that way yesterday. I used a waterproof black Sharpie to cover them. I am sure they will scuff up and be easily marred. The lids are light weight and rather flimsy. If you wash them with anything other than a soft sponge/dish rag they will certainly scrap easily. I tested this by gently sliding a fingernail on the lids side. Instant scratch with no pressure applied. I will use them in my pantry for flour and sugar. If you don't use up your flour/sugar fast (I do) then store them in a better sealing canister. The best type (in my opinion) have the attached heavy duty glass lids, a replaceable seal and they clamp down. Buy those instead.
