Very dispointed in the cookbook , I want more types of receipts that you can use cooking on a PELLET SMOKER.

I love this cook book.....I purchased an Outdoor Camping Oven and these recipes are perfect for that camping oven. Also we were in a bad ice storm and were without power for 5 days....this came in handy so I could cook good food.

This is a cookbook. An outdoor cookbook? Well, yes and no. It has recipes that could be made outdoors or indoors. This book has a small section on canning and brewing beer. Who does that outdoors? Why is beer brewing even included in an outdoor cookbook? That's another subject entirely! There's a section on Dutch Oven cooking, which is what I was looking for. Unfortunately, many of the recipes call for cooking over "medium heat" or "low heat", and don't mention using coals like a true dutch oven cookbook would. If you're using a dutch oven on a gas burner, then why are you using a dutch oven in the first place? Granted, some recipes do tell you how many coals to use, but many recipes look like they could be made without a dutch oven. So, overall, I give this book an "ok". I have other dutch oven cookbooks that are geared specifically toward using the dutch oven as it was meant to be used and I would recommend them over this book if that's what you're looking for. They are Best of The Black Pot and the Scout's Outdoor Cookbook. Do yourself a favor and check those out before you buy this one.
