So far I am very impressed with this pump. Hanging at 40' in the well, and hooked up to 12 volt battery with solar charger. Filled 330 gallon cistern in 4- 5 hours. Not a high volume pump, but ideal for off-grid installation if you have storage tank and time. Will update after it gets some run time on it. Replaced windmill that was destroyed by Hurricane Harvey.

I originally reviewed this as five stars. However, within the first few months, I had a problem with the diaphragm and Pentair Customer Service was good and replaced it. Then a few months after that, the new replacement began to leak and corrode wires and connections. I had to buy these very expensive spare parts to fix the problems. Then last week, one year after installing the thing, the pump stopped working again. I took it apart and found that the motor brush wire was completely water corroded. After speaking with customer service, they said that water must have traveled inside the wire insulation and into the motor. I followed all of the installation instructions perfectly and still have these problems. After reading all of the these reviews, it sounds like the older models were built much better. When I replace this one, it'll be with one of the cheap $80 orange ones on Amazon here. I know they have leak issues too, but it can't be much worse than Shurflo's.

I bought this pump 4 years ago from Northern Tool & Equipment and it has run continuously whenever the sun shines without fail. After 2 years I had to pull the pump to clean the intake screen. After 4 years I thought the pump was broken, but eventually I discovered that the discharge tubing was clogged. In the process of cleaning the tubing I broke the outlet fitting. I called Pentair and they sent me a new one - no charge. Excellent customer service! The flow rate is only about 1-2 gallons per minute, but it can pump that with high head with very little energy consumption - only two small solar panels (135 W total). I pump at this rate into a tank and then use that water for all irrigation at my small property.
