Don't waste your mjoney!!

These used to be great, when they were made in USA. Now made in China, and the hose port is too big for the hose end, so the hose blows out under pressure! No way to prevent, I've tried everything, even entire replacements from Rubbermaid, same problem. (Also, all is sealed so if something breaks, you can't replace parts.)
Ehh, they're ok
Chip✓ Verified Purchase•January 10, 2017
The first 2 I received were cracked where the hose goes into them, the replacements were not. These work fairly well, but do not hold up to any pressure when they are shutting the water flow off. I always get a spray from the connections when the water level is beginning to move the float. If there was a way to replace the plastic fittings with brass, that could fix it and there is plenty of room in the price to use brass.
Leaking...:(

Packaged poorly...tape nearly coming off....and I got this for my red eared slider turtle..I sealed drain with aquarium sealant..after tightening drain plug....waited a full 2 days..n filled it today with water..i.have it in upstairs loft on carpet...it started leaking drop by drop.... I tried hot glue...then it started leaking in another spot..!.I gobbed on more sealant...It Still leaked..I gv up...n had to empty a 70 gallon tank by myself..bucket ..by ..bucket.....I will wait for it to dry..and go to plan b...i will put aquarium sealant on inside plug......i hope this works..as it is the perfect size for this turtle and space...had I known leaks were problems...I would have bought one with no drain....lesson learned......Update:06/22/2016...I bought marine putty...and sealed the drain plug on inside and outside.....its holding....i still check it however..as its upstairs in my loft....so on a good note...it sits a great size for my RES turtle..70 gallons..the size was perfect..and it seems very sturdy...despite the minor leaking I had..my advice....if you buy one to use as a pond..habitat.....buy the marine putty..and aquarium sealant ....put the sealant on first..let dry...and then next day put on Marine putty all around drain..inside and outside..should be good to go..;)
Best filler valve on the market.
NativeTexan41✓ Verified Purchase•May 17, 2016
This is the best filler valve for use on Rubbermaid water troughs because the hose connection is horizontal rather than vertical like most clamp on filler valves. The design prevents one of our horses, who loves to paw in the tank and splash water, from breaking the hose loose from the valve. I also like it that this valve bolts directly to the side of Rubbermaid troughs rather than being held on with clamps like competing values. The Amazon price is also lower than the Tractor Supply price for the same item.
SUCKS! Buy a Little Giant Float valve instead, it fits the Rubbermaid tanks and lasts forever!
Bart D. Hull✓ Verified Purchase•November 8, 2015
I've owned two of these and with both the float split in two, rendering the float valve useless. Both lasted just over a year before failure. NOT a "Commerical" product. Go with the Little Giant float valves, they fit the Rubbermaid stock tank and last forever.
