We purchased this for a dog poop can in the yard. We have gone through a few in the last few years ~ it takes a sturdy can to hold up to the Florida heat and bugs! We have an insert with a bag inside the can and it works great for us! So far we are very happy with it!

I had been using ice-melt during the winter and using the white plastic bucket that the salt came in as the storage canister duing use. The problem with that approach is that the bucket lid is difficult to pry off while wearing gloves and it's 10 degrees outside. I purchased this Eagle waste can after seeing them being used for ice-melt where I work. They use a lot more salt there than I use at home, but I appreciated the ease of the foot-operated opener to access the salt. The bucket arrived in great condition and the supplied warning sticker for "oily rags" was easy to remove for my use. I discovered that the 5 gallon bucket my ice-melt comes in can fit (with the snap-on lid removed) entirely inside this 10 gallon waste can, with the snap on lid set to the side inside the waste can for later use. This worked out even better than atticipated. At the end of the season, I then removed ice-melt bucket from the waste can and snapped the lid back on to keep moisture from the air from being absorbed by the salt.

I use this to deposit my dog's poop and it really makes a difference. No smell so flies don't stay around. Sturdy and foot pedal makes it easy to open. Keeps rain out also.

This is made of a good grade of thick plastic. I suspect that some solvents will damage it but it would take a lot. For oily or solvent soaked rags works fine. The foot open is well done. Fairly large so look at the dimensions before buying. Says empty daily--fat chance. In some respects I would prfer metal but as it will be outside for much of the summer while I work on the deck the plastic is better. I will post back in a while about how UV resistant it is--if I remember. It will probably take a year to tell.
