Recently replaced a pair of Danner Mountain Light boots (9 EE). I remembered breaking them in in was tough and my feet are probably a bit wider. The new boots pinched my right foot. This tool definitely helped improve stress points but it took days, possibly because I was too conservative. These Danner boots have a goretex liner and two layers of leather in the toe area. I did not use alcohol to relax the leather as I could not apply from inside. Picture shows the boot I worked on. These are not high boots and you can see the universal joint in the bar that expands the stretcher. I was able to keep that at roughly 30 degree angle and it worked fine. Not sure how solid that part would be with a taller boot. After fixing these tried it on another boot that had a black rubber toe cover - it did not work on that much at all

This boot stretcher was better than expected. It arrived in a very nice box, well protected and came with instructions. The inserts were metal, not plastic which was a nice surprise! The solid wood was nice and smooth and you can tell this is a quality product. As for stretching, I placed it into my boot, turned the handle until I felt the width was stretched to my liking. I left it in place for 24 hours, then when I tried on my boots, it was perfectly comfortable!

I have one major suggestion for improvement and I even contacted the manufacturer. It would be to make the black turn handle bigger and thicker so it is easier and more comfortable to turn. This would definitely make this an excellent product and I would highly recommend it.

Well made, from apparently high quality components. Works as described. I bought this to use on skates, but now that I have it, I'm sure I have a number of other shoes/boots on which I can use this to improve their fit. I just may buy a second one so I can do both shoes at once.

In the sizing chart the selections are Men's Small 5 - 8.5, Women's Large 9.5 - 11.5, Men's Large 11 - 13, and Men's X-Large. If you look at a women's to men's shoe size conversion chart you will see that a women's size 9.5 converts to men's size 7.5 and women's size 11.5 converts to men's 9.5. I have a size 10 foot so it looked like the Women's large would be too small and the Men's large would be too big. I got the Women's large and it works fine. I am not sure why they didn't just stick with men's size descriptors and let the women convert or go with just women's sizes and let the men convert, or put two size charts in one for men and one for women. The device itself is high quality hardwood and steel construction and should last for a lifetime.
