Great instructions
K. Martin✓ Verified Purchase•October 17, 2023
The instructions were great for this, follow them! Read carefully before you begin! I used the film to obscure a couple of glass fronted bathroom cabinets so I was able to take the glass out, which was helpful. I did end up with a couple of bubbles in the finished product despite my repeated squeegeing, so that's why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I am CERTAIN the bubble weren't visible until the product dried. I worked HARD at that squeegee.
A couple of tips. Definitely cut with a carpet knife and a straight edge. My first cut I used the side of a box to make a straight line for my knife but I wasn't able to press on the edge hard enough so I didn't cut through the film cleanly. I used a real straight edge the second cut and it was much cleaner. Give it some oomph when you cut, you'll be glad.
Definitely cut the film a little smaller than your glass if you do Like I did and remove glass fronts from a cabinet. My glass has a rounded beveled edge, and the film does not like to stick to that edge. I had to cut it in a bit with nail scissors after I had it on so I could get clean adhesion with no little edge to lift up.
Be CAREFUL with your pencil when you're measuring. I ruined a piece of film because the uncut product suddenly rolled back on itself and I had my pencil in my hand. I could not get the pencil mark off the film no patter what I tried, so that piece was waste.
Overall a fun a gratifying project! My cabinets hide the mess within much better now, despite the very small flasw in the finish. I'm happy.

Great product and was exactly what we wanted

The description was great which helped in the selection. We used it on the garaged side entry door for privacy which had clear glass. The instructions were very clear. I have installed a couple of these now and one thing I read is to use a razor blade to scrape and paint/dirt/etc off the window before cleaning and installing the film. That step is critical in my opinion. Take the extra 2 minutes to do that extra step and you will be happy you did.
Clean the window thoroughly as they describe and using water with a few drops of dishwashing liquid, spray the film first and then the window. Spraying the film eliminates most of the static when you peel the covering off of its backing which minimized dirt and dust from getting on the film. Spray the window and do not be wimpy, load it up till it is running down the glass and door and then position the film on the window and slide in place using two of the precut edges. A rubber squeegee worked great to get the water and any air bubbles out and any difficult ones I used a credit card to work out. You do not need to get all the water out just most and mostly concentrate on any air bubbles. Trim using a box cutter or razor knife and straight edge on remaining edges. I had a couple of dirt specks show us so I peeled the film back, soaked it again with the spray, removed them and put the film back in place with the same process described above. Mop up the liquid with a small towel and let dry overnight and you are done. It came out great.

Privacy at night!

I wanted privacy in my garage at night when the light is on. After an e-mail exchange, this company sent me samples to try. The picture is from the outside at night. Perfect privacy at night, and lots of light in the daytime. This company has a varity of clings, some have thick paper backing, making it easy to remove. This one did not. Adding a piece of tape to each side and then pulling them apart works to separate. This thinner cling has more bubbles than the thicker cling, but the squeegee provided helps, just work from the center out.
Fantastic product, have installed on 8 windows but follow directions and READ review for important details.

I've used this on several house windows with great success. The key is to follow the directions exactly and most importantly, trim the film 1/32" smaller than your window so that the film does not bump up against the window from AT ALL. In my experience, the only times I've had a problem is when I did not trim enough and the film was pushed right against the vinyl window surround. Inevitably this was where it would bubble and let air under the film, eventually coming away from the glass. But if you do it right, it can last several years (my shower window is now on its sixth year). The film is thick, durable, does not yellow or turn color, does not have any plastic odor, was easily installed in 15 minutes, and works as advertised.
The Etched Glass film diffuses light, much like a plastic light cover. In my opinion, it seems to brighten the garage somewhat by diffusing the indirect light that hits the window. More importantly, it does provide privacy and in turn improves security. From outside the window, I cannot discern any objects or people inside. Even at night with indoor lights on, I was unable to see if there was anything interesting inside or anyone in the garage.
Mission complete.

Perfect for my need

I was looking for a window covering that allow light in but which made it hard to see into the house. This was just what I needed. It was easy to install. One thing to know is that it shrunk a little, once it was peeled away from the paper. That should be considered when cutting it to size. The amount of shrink was 1/8" for a 21.5" length.
