like it don't love it and beware it's permanent on some hair types

this is my first time using a temporary hair color and this one behaves as a permanent hair color on certain strands of my hair. that wasn't a total shock to me: years ago when i used a semi--permanent hair color that behaved as a permanent hair color on my hair as well. unfortunately, for some odd reason, this does not behave as permanent on my greys that are in front and near my scalp...farther down the strands at my temples it has been permanent.

this golden spell is a nice caramel/blonde color on my brown hair that's gone grey. it also makes my hair very smooth...slick even. and maybe TOO slick if that's possible! my natural hair can sometimes be smooth and shiny but is prone to frizz. this calms the frizz.

because i don't mind it being permanent - in fact that's welcome - my only real complaint is how this watery version is so messy to apply, even though i do it standing in the bathtub. because it doesn't get rinsed out that also means a towel gets temporarily stained when i towel dry my hair. i intentionally used an old white towel so i could see how much comes out when the towel is laundered and it seems to come out but perhaps not 100%. not sure since the old towel is no longer super white. i definitely wouldn't try this with a new white towel!

i'd read that the mousse version of this product can dry out hair for some people so since my hair is frizz-prone i didn't want to risk it. hopefully roux can someday figure out a product that is the best of both versions!
Would not buy again.

It appears the formulas have changed through the years... not any real coverage to speak of. (Sweet Cream) I know it is a rinse, not a color... but in years past it would provide enough color to 'tint' the gray/roots as to buy you a little extra time between coloring; no longer the case. Formulas have changed. Others I spoke with have said the same thing.
