It's an Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher
@teresalo•August 30, 2017
The German word for this handy tool was featured as word of the week at Deutsche Welle:
The German language is kind of like Legos: Just stack the words together to make (up) a new compound term.
"Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher" is a good example. Sure it's long, but when taken apart literally the "egg shell pre-determined breaking point causer" actually makes sense. At least it does to Germans, everyone else needs a handful of words to explain what this breakfast gadget does. Quite simply, an "Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher" is used to crack the shell of a boiled egg. Admittedly, they're not as common in Germany as they should be, since soft-boiled eggs served in an egg cup with a mini egg spoon, are an essential part of a traditional German breakfast. People who haven't had a second cup of coffee, however, can be excused for cracking their eggs with spoons rather than trying to ask for the "Eierschalensollbruchstellenverursacher." Though dropping a weight onto an egg remains something everyone should try at least once.
Watched a few videos on Youtube and decided this was a toy I must have. Good quality and weight. Cracks eggs as advertised.

MADE for TOUGH GERMAN EGGS
Loboacan•July 26, 2017
If the egg shell is too thin it cracks the whole egg. The force is much more than other egg toppers. One would have to know how high to raise the ball in order to get a drop force that would top the egg but not crack the entire egg. There is too much guess work in this TOY. If the egg has cracked while being boiled, this topper WILL NOT WORK. One has to fight with it to pull it free from the egg once it attaches to it. POSITIVE part is that is have no parts that will wear out. No spring to weaken, for example.
Clack egg opener the original German design

Still perfecting my teqnique, but this really works and is well constructed ,every one is the house is impressed with my new toy I find it works best with jumbo eggs,everyone has been eating a lot of boiled eggs so I can get expert at getting the perfect clean top off. Bit pricey but I have always been impressed with German innovation and quality good stuff is worth paying extra for trust the Germans to come up with something this clever and useful and FUN
this egg opener works fine but people paying $10 more than other comparable products
SN•February 3, 2017
"Made in Germany"? Not quite.
The product works reasonably well and since this is the only one I've tried I don't know how it compares to other similar egg openers. I chose to pay at least $10 more for this because it clearly says "Made in Germany" in the Amazon description. However, when the package arrived, the product carton states (and this is a direct quote, photo attached) "Designed and assembled in Germany. Made in China/India". Does that qualify as "Made in Germany"? I don't think so and especially since the product itself says "Made in China/India".
So, this egg opener works fine but people paying $10 more than other comparable products, because they think this is made in Germany, are being misled.

We found dropping the ball twice or maybe three times worked best. But
Marla Janna•March 15, 2015
This tool does exactly what it says it will do. We found dropping the ball twice or maybe three times worked best. But, with a couple of tries, we have the technique down and are very impressed with how well this works. The top removes cleanly and quickly, with no little pieces of shell interfering with the enjoyment of our eggs.
