The compartments are very deep and the lid will sit down without the tops of the watches banging against it. The quality of the lock is poor, but I think we really don't need the lock, overall this product is good, comes in very good packing. At the current price I believe it is a good buy and recommend it.

For the price, it is one of the best deals out there in 20 watch boxes. The fit and finish was good but not excellent. One corner was sanded away too much when they were finishing the box at the manufacturer. I am very picky where maybe other people are not. If I had a woodmaker try to make something similar, I am sure I would have to pay $400, that is about the quality level I feel the box has. The only downside I can think of is the plexiglass cover. I wish it were glass.

If you've purchased watch boxes before from this seller (Watchmaterial) beware that these are not the same high polished lacquer finish as they previously were. The description makes it clear that they have a "Burlwood Finish" but what they do not tell you is that the boxes appear to be made from some sort of pressed wood material and then covered with some type of "paper" finish. These boxes that are now being sold are nowhere near the quality of what they were selling 1 to 2 years ago (I have several of those also). I am aware that I could have returned them but I needed to get some watches put away and didn't have time to look for another box vendor that would give me the quality box that this vendor (Watchmaterial) sold previously. If you look at the date of the reviews, most were done when the other boxes were still being sold and one of the reviewers even has pictures that show the high polished lacquer boxes and not the ones currently being sold.
If you have big watches, Invicta Sub-Aquas for instance, do NOT think that you can fit them side by side, that won't fit without the crown guard hitting the adjacent watch!

I guess that my biggest problem with the boxes is the cheap paper type finish. If you want to pay $80 for what in my opinion is a $20 product, go for it but don't forget that you were warned............I know after buying many of these boxes from Watchmaterial in the past, these will be my last. Fool me once.........

After researching several watch boxes on Amazon, I decided to purchase the "20 Watches Extra Clearance Burlwood Finish Box", as a Christmas gift for my husband. He has been a watch collector for years and has never had a good way to display any of his vast watch collection. I took a chance and ordered three of these boxes. I am definitely not sorry I did. I was expecting to receive nice boxes and these are beautiful boxes that exceeded my expectations. The quality is excellent! The price is right, and I highly recommend these to anyone who wants to proudly display a watch collection. The box and the watches will definitely compliment each other.

I am so in love with these that I purchased another one for my brother as well. I love the finish and the window on top. It houses all my watches without any issues. The largest watch that I have is a 42" and fits nicely without any issues or touching the top glass. This is an outstanding item and comes nice and neatly packed. I owuld totally recommend this item to anyone that is a watch connoisseur.
