by adjusting the height of the arm and/or placing various small rocks and stones underneath the falling water. as easy to assemble as everyone has said. You can adjust the height of the arm by raising or lowering it then holding it in place with the peg provided with the fountain.
Charming. I have it sitting in my lanai on the edge of a large flower pot with some rocks and stones inside. The pot is about two feet high but I filled it with water only half way up to avoid splashing water on my floor. I can adjust the intensity of the sound to a soft background trickle or increase the intensity of the sound by moving the rocks and/or the fountain arm around so it is loud enough to hear when I am sitting on my patio.
The pump can also be adjusted to maximize or minimize the amount of water flowing through the fountain. The bamboo is nice looking, as is the fountain. I actually wanted a deer chaser fountain but I didn't want to spend the $90 to get it. This bamboo fountain is more satisfying than I expected it to be. I wanted the restful sound of flowing water, and this little fountain has given me exactly what I wanted at a very reasonable price.

This was so easy to put together, a five yr old could do it. So relaxing and easy to adjust the unit to fix over the water basin. I added white rocks and a little Budda, you could glue it in place, but winters are a little hard here and I normally take everything in when the weather starts to change. So far, I'm loving it!!

I like this a lot but it will easily tip over b/c there's no way to fasten it to the water vessel. I placed river rock on it to stabilize it a bit. Love the sound of flowing water.
