I got this so my husband could fix the lawn mower. If you are reading this then you probably know more about what this part is supposed to do than I. What I do know is that it arrived, my husband installed it and the mower works great now. It didn't work before....now it does. We are pleased and so it gets 5 stars because it does whatever it's supposed to do...

Better than the OE mandrel

One summer in the not so distant past, I noticed the old Murry rider was cutting the grass uneven. The bearings went out on the factory mandrel on one side of the mower deck. I purchased this replacement, which was a direct fit - no modification necessary. The product comes equipped with a fitting to keep the installed bearings greased (the factory installed originals did not).
Greased up and installed on the deck, the mower cut the lawn level again...for a few months, until the other old factory mandrel suffered the same fate. I picked up another and I have had no issues with their performance or cut level. Highly recommend this product be replaced in sets.

I had more difficulty getting the old Jackshaft off the mower deck than I did getting this replacement part installed, lubed and ready for service. The part was a perfect match, all the mounting holes lined up beautifully. I ended up purchasing new self-tapping mounting screws, which is why the mounting holes on the new jackshaft are not threaded. The grease fitting was of a decent quality and, if used consistently, should lead to years of trouble-free service.
